I toured The Jefferson in Middleton independent living. It's not continuing care, and that's kind of what I'm looking for. I liked that the people were very nice, so that was good. The staff was very, very nice. I have tried their food, and it was good. The facilities seemed OK, too. They had a salon. They didn't have a gym, but I think they had exercise classes. They had a small patio, but I did not see a courtyard. The place was clean from what I could see. The bedrooms I saw were of average size. Old Sauk Road is a good city highway.
The only thing that I was not pleased with was the kitchen accommodation. I think they said you had to bring your own microwave, and there was also no stove. The staff said some people brought a hot plate, and I would want a place with a little bit of a galley kitchen or something like that.

Such a great community. Chef Tim creates meals that are delicious and provides different options for more picky eaters...like me! Tauni is the face of the Jefferson. She is the person with whom I've had the most interactions and she is simply wonderful. Always looking out for the residents, keeping things light by being goofy in the day-to-day, and she knows her stuff. If you need anything, she'll either be able to help you, or she'll find out who can. The Jefferson is fun, social, and just.a great place to live!

The staff is so wonderful and the food is top notch! My mum enjoyed so many activities during her time here and the chef made incredible food. The staff goes out of its way to ensure everyone has a good day, everyday. The sales director is amazing and knowledgeable. The staff continues to impress me even though my mum has passed away I still have wonderful memories of her time there. They have live music on the weekends, activities and trips on the shuttle bus! Overall you never want to leave which is why I go back often for the food and to enjoy all the fun!

We felt very welcomed at The Jefferson and our tour guide was very friendly and very open. She was just an excellent tour guide. We were impressed with the activities that were there as well as the food menu. The food menu had many offerings each day. We could tell that people were very well cared for there by the staff. We saw a one-bedroom there and it felt small. She also was briefly able to let us see the two-bedroom of a resident who was kind enough to let us pop in. That was a little bit bigger, though a bit small for our needs. They had a library, exercise area, many classes, church services, chaplain, extra services available on the third floor, and a salon. Extra services to help those who would need some further care were right onsite. They had a game room and crafts. A lot is going on. They had a nice calendar of events and people were out and about. They weren't all in their rooms. It was pet-friendly. It felt like maybe it could be updated as far as just the decor and things like that.

We were able to visit The Jefferson. The bad thing about that is that they cook all your meals for you, and we cook our own meals. We want independent living and in independent living is that we do everything ourselves, our own cooking and what-have-you. I like the Jefferson. I thought it would be a nice place. The reason we rejected it is that they cook all your meals for you, and we don't like that. We cook our own meals and we like going out to eat periodically. That's the one problem they have, and if you take away that, I thought everything was nice. The staff members were very nice and they appeared to be competent. Everything seemed to be clean and dusted. It wasn't dirty. What we saw was very good.

The staff are very warm and caring. They know the residents by name and often stop and chat when they see someone in a hallway or sitting outside. They know how to deal with many different personalities and treat everyone with respect. They also know family members and chat with them. The building is generally clean and well kept.
The apartments are a good size so that residents can have their personal belongings with them but not so big that things get lost. Some of the bathrooms have walk-in showers. The refrigerators are a good size.
Pets are allowed and everyone loves to see them.
The dining room is pleasant and residents can sit wherever they like.

The 1 bedrooms are very spacious, the staff is great, and a nice variety of activities. I would definitely recommend it.

If you are looking to apply for the Aid and Attendance Benefit through the VA, and live here. Run.
Honestly, I'm very disappointed in how things have gone with the Jefferson. We chose the Jefferson for many reasons, one being the community and that she would be able to age in place here thus making that cost minimal over time, now having literally no other choice but to move not even a year after moving in means that was an exorbitent amount per month (she lived here from December to the end of March). We were told by Tauni that we wouldn't have any issues with the VA getting approved for this specific location for Aid and Attendance because many have gotten it approved. However, when we met with the VA their response was polar opposite of this. That the facility did not meet the requirements and while she would get some funding, that none of the cost of the facility could qualify for being counted towards what she would get ultimately leaving her over $700 short a month for the facility. Added to the fact that this has caused immense amount of mental and emotional stress for both her and I and they are sending us a invoice for the total PLUS additional outstanding balances, which there should be none is frustrating.
The food was ok but my grandmother didn't love it. It is extremely expensive for what is offered. The activities are not engaging for people who don't like euchere.

The Jefferson is absolutely wonderful. The people are great. They have rehab here if you need it and excellent food. Three meals a day and all utilities are included in the cost. It's a wonderful place to live. They have bingo, all kinds of cards, and a bus that will take you to doctors' appointments and in the afternoons to different stores. They have trips out on Fridays, and they're going to see a park that's all lit up with Christmas lights. They have card making, just about anything anybody could want to do, and exercise. It's just perfect. If you're bored here, it's your fault. The dining area is very clean, very nice, and decorated all the time for the different holidays. They have a piano in there and they sometimes play it while you're eating. Everything is very healthy. I would never cook fish when I lived at home and I'm now getting the amount of fish I was supposed to have a week. I also have oatmeal every morning. You get a wide variety to choose from.

The Jefferson Middleton is quite good and the place is clean. The staff has been friendly, helpful, and good. Right now they're doing exercises, and that's every day. I play cards on Thursdays, bingo a couple times a week, and there are activities going on all the time. Today, I'm also going to go for manicure here at 9:30. They have coffee chats and chef meeting where you can talk to them about the meals. Basically, the meals were good. We get three choices, plus you can have something else if you don't like it. There's just been a couple of residents that are nasty.

The Jefferson was of a colonial setting; it looked very nice. The carpet was well worn, but they have it on the schedule to be replaced. I was impressed by the sense of community. There seemed to be a lot going on too. I saw activities going on like crafts and card games. It was a good place that way. The woman who took me around was very open and friendly.

Mom is in the Jefferson. It is affordable and has an in-house care company. You can pay them to help with showers and dressing. They provide entertainment, bingo, and a live band. She's getting pretty much the same care as an assisted living. It's very nice.

My mother is in Jefferson. It feels like a cruise ship. They're very good, provide three good meals a day, have a variety of activities, and have a good transportation schedule.

My experience at the Jefferson was very pleasant. The apartments were very spacious and well kept. Everybody I met seemed like wonderful, nice people. The dining area was very nice and well maintained. I met a couple of people on the dining staff who were very gracious. I rather enjoyed stopping by. Their price was competitive with everybody else in the market, so it wasn’t the highest and wasn’t the lowest.

My elder daughter has lived at The Jefferson for 3 years. The rooms are passable but small -- about 600 square feet -- and there's a weekly service. The grounds are beautiful. The food is adequate, there are choices, and they offer 3 meals a day. The price is rather expensive. A single room apartment with 3 meals a day is about $2500 a month.

My big objection at The Jefferson was there was no place to park your car except outside. When it's winter and there's snow, you would have to walk outside to get to your car. When you're old, that's not a good idea. The place was clean, and the units were adequate. The food was fine. The activities and everything was fine, and they would take you where you wanted to go.

The Jefferson was excellent. The rooms were very nice. The food and the dining area were very good. The one who showed me around was very good, very polite, and informative. However, we could not afford the price. The location was OK. I thought they needed to improve on the cost.

The Jefferson was just exquisite and beautiful, but it looked to me like it was way beyond our means. They don't even have assistance there; it's just a beautiful place to live, and if you need assistance, you will have to hire that, and they will come in. The cost of that is on top of the housing. It's very beautiful, clean, and in good repair, and the decor is lovely. They have programs going on, entertainment, and live music. The meals sound good too. It looked like a very good place, but it's so far out that it's not near anything you could walk to easily. It's way out in the country, so that's not very good. Whatever you want to do entertainment-wise would have to be in there, or else you have to take transportation elsewhere, but it is very lovely and the people working there seemed to be friendly as ever. I feel it's very lively, vivacious, and friendly, and I was received in a friendly way. It's very clean, lovely and more spacious than most places.

The Jefferson was very nice. They showed me a lot and helped explain things to me. It's clean and very nice. The meals looked very good, and if you're a guest of someone, you get a free meal when you go to visit them. They had a nursing station and an exercise room with just some bikes and stuff, but they did exercise every day. They provided them services, which you had to pay on top of rent, like you had to pay for any pills that you need administer and for sorting out. The rooms were all different sizes, which was nice but the pricing was weird. I couldn't figure out what my friend really had to pay.

The rooms at The Jefferson were beautiful and ideal for my mom. The presentation of the entire facility was very nice. They were well maintained and the design was great. They had gardening group and live music that comes in a couple of times a week. I enjoyed the fact that the management staff interacted with the residents during meal times. I felt that was a lovely thing. They had a media room, library, and a lot of different activities. They had different organizations that come in and a chapel meeting day where various religious organizations can come and be a part of their community.

The Jefferson is very nice and had everything that I would like in a community. It was just pretty expensive. The rooms were clean and carpeted and the walls were painted. The staff was very friendly and helpful. During the visit, I saw a lady there singing, and they were also doing something right after lunch.

The staff at The Jefferson seemed really good during our visit there. The lady who gave me the tour was really knowledgeable. The rooms looked really clean and adequate for an individual. The place looked nice. One of the top things I like about this place is their dining area.

The Jefferson is closer to where I live, so that even if mom would have to be outside of her area in Milwaukee, at least, she would be within twenty-five minutes drive from me. The marketing person that I saw was very personable and worked with me very well to fit in a visit with my work schedule. She was the only one who insisted that I come during a mealtime, so I could experience the quality of the food and even though they were apparently between permanent chefs, the food seemed to be really good, what I had was yummy. There were lots of choices, it was like restaurant food and they had a large dining room. We saw two one-bedroom apartments and they were quite nice. One was a little newer than the other, but neither one was nearly as spacious. I could see a person living comfortably in a one-bedroom apartment at this facility because it did have a homelike feeling. They did have different levels of care where if ever they could start out with independent living, but if they needed additional care down the road, they will be able to stay in the same community rather than having to move someplace else. It seemed that the staff members were really attuned to the residents when we were there. I was also impressed when the marketing person was taking me around on a tour that a couple of residents came up to her and they were just saying hi and greeting her. One gentleman had a difficulty with his cellphone and she took the time to figure out the phone's problem for him, which was very sweet. It seemed like they have quite a number of activities going on. She showed me a schedule of events where they have these posted in several common areas downstairs and they also would have calendars that they would post at each resident's door. So everybody always had a copy of the monthly calendar of all of the events that were going on. They had shopping excursions, at least three of them a week, so one of them would have been to a certain grocery store and another one would have been like the Walgreens and other places for basic necessities. Then, they also had special things where they would go to various social activities like the movies, and also they had opportunities for the residents to have volunteer tasks.

My tour at The Jefferson was fine. The rooms are small, but they have a kitchenette and a bathroom. The dining area is in a very large room. The staff were fine. Overall, we liked it, but one thing that concerns me is that they have gone through numerous cooks, so I think that is a little concerning.

I loved The Jefferson, but it was too far away from our kids. The people were friendly, and I just liked everything about it, even the food. They treated us great. They seemed very considerate. They told us a lot. Only thing we had against them was that they didn’t have a continuous care. I understood that there, we would stay in the same apartment and people would come in and take care of us. One thing was they didn’t have an apartment to show us. So we saw a room they had made out of two 1-bedrooms, and we didn’t like that all. But it was very pleasant. I couldn’t say anything bad about it. We didn’t see many people, except in the dining room, where we met one lady that had just moved there, and she liked it a lot.

The Jefferson is a little too big. The staff was very friendly. The rooms were well maintained but a little dated and a little small. The food was so-so. They have many activities, like dance class, exercise class, card playing, game rooms, and a book club.. I like the friendliness of the staff.

Promoted as a retiree's dream, a retiree has to be dressed and in the dining room at 8:00AM, 12:30PM and 5:30PM to enjoy the hour-long wait for service in the formal dining for nutritionally unbalanced meals, too high in salt, sugar and carbohydrates. Recent switch from leafy green salad to iceberg lettuce eliminated one of the few nutritious options.
Forget the evening news which is highly popular among seniors; rush home from your morning shopping, this program institutionalizes the grace of dining.
And the dominance of residents who are there for rehab limits the possibilities for active folks for activities , makes transportation difficult, creates dangerous lining up of walkers and wheelchalairs at the single elevator. Retirees are often forced to give a rehab resident aid. The promotional brochure never once mentioned rehabilitation as the dominant activity or how the residence compromises the needs of the tw(they don't). Alzheimer's patient walking nude in the hall, once example.
tI really don't know how we will get out of this place incase of a fire.
Too much crowding in and too much left out. This program needs revamping from top to bottom; in trying to do so much, they do too little.

I've been at The Jefferson for a little over 2 months now. It 's very nice. It has the feel of a luxury hotel. The staff is very good, I have nothing bad to say about them. They're working very hard and they are caring people. But, I'm just beginning to put together the issues around this kind of housing. There's nothing in their brochure that they have rehab here. Some residents are officially under care for rehab, some are aging. They are not independent anymore. So having that many people that are not independent affects the whole program. We only have one elevator and we have three floors and an elevator gets full very fast when you put in wheelchairs and walkers. People are very slow too. We have a formal dining room. It affects the dining room, there are so many walkers and wheel chairs in there. I have to stand for 4 hrs a day for meals and in getting food and the service is very slow. We have activities but they're poorly attended and don't work very well. They try to have activities with a mixture of disabled and not mentally disabled that we can't do most of the things they plan because it doesn't work when you have that kind of variation in capabilities. I also think the diet is poor. It's way too much of bread and carbohydrates and not enough fresh fruits and vegetables.

The Jefferson has plenty of memory care unit, so they are familiar with taking care of the residents with memory issues. The staff is great. We had a two-hour tour and the representative answered every question that we possibly have. They have rooms appropriate for my dad and they also have enough staff to take care of his needs. They have a lot of possible services available for him. They have busses which takes the residents out. We just wish they had a 24-hour staff. The price is also reasonable.

My parent is now staying at The Jefferson. It is the one she likes. She is also only 10 minutes from me in terms of location. She is closer to family and her grandchildren. Also my mom didn't have to buy into anything and it is like month to month thing for her. She just paid a security deposit and then she can go anywhere. She is not locked in with a lease. It particularly stands out for us because it offers lots of choices with different meals. My mom was actually in a traditional nursing home before and they didn't have any choices in terms of meals. While at this place, you have usually up to five choices and service is more like restaurant style. Their staff is also different from the ones where she was before. Another thing that stands out is the fact they do different things like field trips for their residents where they provide transportation everyday to different places. Where she was before, she was not happy but here, she's happier. I highly recommend this place. Right now, she is in a one-bedroom but she is going to move up to a two-bedroom too as soon as they have one available.

My mother has been living in The Jefferson since September. The staff is very nice. The place has lots and lots of activities. The rooms are lovely. My mother has a very nice apartment. But, the food is terrible. Food is very important to my mother, she's very picky, and so my siblings and I actually ate there when we visited. The food that we were served with was excellent and we thought my mother would love it there. But since she moved in, there hasn't been a good meal. Supposedly they have chefs there but I could cook better than they can.
