About This Community

Fredonia is a small hamlet located in the eastern part of Wisconsin, about 30 miles away from Milwaukee. The community has a low crime rate and a cost of living on par with the rest of the country. Forest Haven, a local assisted living community, is located near a small residential area of the town, surrounded by lush landscaping and plenty of trees.

Forest Haven offers care to seniors in a group home setting, with non-medical, certified staff available around-the-clock to help with mobility, daily grooming or reminders and redirection. Medical dispersal is not available, but there is a skilled nurse on staff for light medical care. Well-balanced meals with consideration to the nutritional needs of the elderly are provided three times a day. Private accommodations include safety features and ground floor units that allow wheelchair access.

The indoor and outdoor common areas are designed with comfortable seating for games, conversation or practicing a favorite hobby. Forest Haven schedules many different activities throughout the day, including group trips and on-site devotional services. Respite services, for those recovering from surgery or an illness, are available as well as long-term residential care. Transportation is not included but can be arranged for a small fee.

We took a tour of Forest Haven. The building was fairly new, I would say 10-15 years old. Everything was very clean and in very good condition. They have a ceiling in the dining room that they change per season so it was very festive looking in there. The residents were all very friendly and the staff was all very friendly. It was lunchtime so we didn't see any activities going on, but they have two different living rooms where they have TVs and social settings. And then they had another room where they had puzzles and game boards and card games and then crafts and stuff that they would do in there. The room itself that I saw had two long dressers, a double bed with significant room all around the bed, and a huge walk-in closet. The bathroom was a very good size and wheelchair-accessible. It was a very nice setup.
