THIS PLACE IS AWFUL!!!!!! I work in an emergency room that has had this awful place send several of their residents to. When the residents were medically cleared this awful place has refused to take their residents home. These poor elderly people were kicked out of their own home!! By law, these residents have the right to go through an eviction process and not just put out on the streets!!! Well, that is NOT what Colonial Tyler Care Center did. They sent the residents by ambulance to an emergency room and then refused to allow these residents to come back to the place they call home. This place should be ashamed of themselves and should be shut down. These people are elderly and need assistance...They are just not people to be thrown out on the streets and in the cold!!!!!

The place is dirty, roaches and water bugs and cockroaches every where. Staff is rude and disrespectful. Nurses don't help with patient care and don't even wash their hands.

I really didn't want my mother to be at Colonial Tyler Care Center, but it was really the only place that was feasible because she had a bacterial infection and the type of antibiotic treatment, and basically it was the best facility because it was right across the street from the infectious diseases doctors. It was just old, and they had nothing new. They have had everything for about 50 years. Their plastic containers for water and stuff were pretty much the same things they had back in 1973, but they were efficient. They were fine, and they were really sweet people.

I was thoroughly impressed with The Colonial. A friend of mine was previously employed there, and I decided to check it out to see if it would be a place I may want to volunteer for Hospice. The place was very clean, and the staff were all friendly and very helpful. I was given a tour of all wings and introduced to several clients. Every person I talked to made it a point to tell me how great the staff treated them, and several clients, as well as, employees welcomed me to volunteer. The dining hall was very large, and I was able to taste a sample of lunch. Pretty good! Most nursing homes/assisted living facilities have a certain unpleasant smell. The colonial smelled very clean. At no time was I subjected to urine or fecal odors. It may not sound like a big deal, but in a small town nursing home, it is! I have been to several nursing homes and assisted living facilities, but The Colonial is the only one that really impressed me in the east Texas area.
