I was a recovery resident for 4 months. It was a wonderful experience. I will be back for more advanced out-patient therapy in a few months. Most likely, I will return to therapy in May or June 2020. I give my love to the residents and to their loving families. But I also give a big hand and thumbs up to the staff members of West Oaks. I appreciate the kindness of the people who are a part of West Oaks.

My brother is in West Oak Rehab and Healthcare Center, and it is a very good facility. Their physical therapy department is incredible. However, there is an unfortunate experience; somebody robbed my brother, but no one knows what happened. Overall, the physical therapy and the nursing are excellent. The follow up is great. I think it is an excellent facility. They go beyond what you really expect. The sanitation is very good.

West Oaks is a satisfactory nursing home, but not top-notch care. Facilities are always clean, however the attentiveness of the staff to resident needs is often lacking. My grandmother has been at West Oaks for several years. Frequently, when I visit her, her diaper is wet - to the point of soaking through clothing. According to her Dr., this lack of frequent changing might have contributed to several urinary tract infections. Several times, my familly has mentioned various health concerns (red eyes, swollen hand, etc) to staff and the staff member seems unconcerned with even looking at the problem. Most of the staff is friendly, however there are a few staff members (aides) that are not friendly with vistors or residents. I would not recommend this facility if your loved one needs high level care and constant monitoring. However, for short-term rehabilitation, it might be better. There are frequent activities (cards, movie and popcorn nights, sing-alongs) and weekly Walmart trips for residents - and even a poetry club.
