We have moved my mom into Eagle Ridge Alzheimer's Special Care Center. They're specifically memory care, so they don't have any assisted living, and that was kind of part of the draw with some of the facilities where it felt like memory care was just a sidebar and not really where they put their real effort. The community is small, and all the caregivers are focused around the people that are having memory issues. It seemed like a good fit for Mom, but it may not be for everybody. My mom loves the staff up there. She has always commented, "It's so nice here." It's been a great experience so far. They have a couple of secure courtyards, so people can go and sit. They have a whole lot of activities. Unless there's something specific going on with the individual, they really encourage the community of activity participation. They really keep them out of their rooms, which is important for people that are having challenges like that. The staff are very nice, courteous, empathetic, and seem to be pretty in tune with the needs of their customers. The facility, I understand, is like 12 years old, and they've got a few employees that are in fact 11- to 12-year employees there, and then several of the staff members for two plus years. So they seem to have a pretty stable staff. When Mom first got there she didn't want to eat, but I ended up eating her meal and it was quite good. They've got a chef on site that prepares everything. They have arts and crafts and puzzles. They have a library. Their calendar is full of stuff, so they get these people involved and participating. It's a variety. Plus, they bring in musicians that will play music on a weekly basis. The other day, they had an outfit that was doing old country Western songs. The value of the services, the cost and everything, I put them right there top of the list.

My mom is a resident of Eagle Ridge Alzheimer's Special Care Center. She's still not where she needs to be, but I see that there. My biggest concern at the time was keeping her clean, and they do that. But as far as keeping her kind of active, not as much. My main goal was to keep her clean, because the previous facility, where I brought her from, was a disaster. But anyway, they do keep her clean, and the place is clean. The facility is clean, that's a big, big deal for me. As far as COVID and stuff, they're very concerned about making sure that when you come in, nobody comes in without authorization. You can't ask for too much more on that. She's got a closet, a toilet, and sink, and a bed. She has a window where she can look out, a nightstand, and her bed. She uses a hospice bed. The administrator knows about all her people there, all the residents and everything. They have a patio in the middle. We've been out a lot because my mom likes to be outside. It's a small area, that's one of the things she's kind of missing. She used to garden, and she was part of a garden club. It kind of went from one thing to another where these guys keep her clean. The other ones had the activities, and they had her in a garden club where she planted all the flowers and stuff. She was very active, they keep her clean, but she falls asleep all the time because she's bored. The patios are very small. They've got two different dining areas. They do bingo and some music, that's about it. They could improve on activities, and having bigger outside areas. The one they have is really nice, though. I think they need more grassy areas. I just take her outside the facility marker, not walking around, but we go around there.

It is run like a family. All of the admin staff are involved with the patients and staff and families. The piano is seen immediately upon entering into the great family room. During the day there is always music , which Alzeimers patients all respond to positively. There are games and movie times - good snacks in between meals. The schedule is always planning the next event. But all is QUIET and safe so the patients are comfortable. There is a large amt of space for the patients to roam The caregivers are assigned Patients and check them often for toileting and other needs. The food is outstanding and served in a beautiful setting. And the facility is clean , very clean. They offer private rooms but Bill is in a shared room. It still offers privacy and is very comfortable and quiet. He has a window to allow sunlight. No box has not been checked . I have been at other facilities/ this is the one for excellence and warmth. It has recently changed hands so I will be watching closely but the staff says the new managers are committed also to the best!

Caring, professional, and experienced staff. Excellent food, my picky mom loves it! Made her feel like family from the first moment. Truly 5 star service.

Autumn Leaves was my favorite for my father because he has Alzheimer’s. It was not a good place for my mother because it was for memory care. The director of marketing was excellent, and she connected with me because she has a relative with Alzheimer’s. The have a lot of meetings with family members and caregivers. The residents were engaged in activities, and they were treated very well.

My mother was a resident for about 1 1/2 years before she passed away. We had her in 2 other facilities before a room became available here. The staff and facility was wonderful. I never worried about my mother and whenever I called to check on her the staff, no matter who I talked with, was able to give me updated information on her condition. They always knew right where she was and what she was doing. I could tell they really did love my mother as well as all the other residents. This was very apparent during my visits and could see the cleanliness of the facility and interaction of the staff with all of the residents. I loved visiting my mother here and they always had her smelling so nice and looking beautiful! I would highly recommend this facility to anyone needing a loving, caring, clean home for their loved ones when they can't be there for them.

We looked at Autumn Leaves of Denton, it was clean, and it looked like it had caring staff, but it was just not a good fit for my father. I saw their dining area, and it was clean. I like that the staff was very friendly, and the facility seemed newer.

Autumn Leaves was a nice place. I thought it was fine. It was relatively new and everything was clean. I understood the difficulty with the amount of patients that somebody has to deal with; I don’t know that I have a bad taste in my mouth. The thing that kind of concerned me was the fact that they were really not prepared for her. One of the people that was working there told me that probably this was not the place for Alice -- that she needed 24 hour nursing care. She developed severe diarrhea and dehydration. The problem started at home. It wasn’t that they were ignoring her or anything like that. I just had to transfer her. I just told them that probably she could get better care if she was in a place where there’s 24 hour nursing. I wasn’t aware of any objections to it. I think they recognized too. I never felt that they were trying to talk me out of it or anything like that. It was kind of apparent to me that some of the help were just young ladies that were trained to help take care of people. I just don’t feel that I can make complete judgment on it because on my side I realized I was just concerned about Alice and how they were taking care of her. I have a pass card that I can just come in anytime and can stay long as I want. I was encouraged to come and share a meal with her. I thought the meals were pretty good, and most of the time I didn’t help her in the cafeteria. They were allowed to go to a recreation room. I know the first time I brought her there, she thought we were going out to eat. That was kind of nice. So in that respect again, I thought that was a good thing to do. I don’t think I would be hesitant to recommend somebody to look into that place.

I have been to this facility many times. I have been for short visits and very long visits. The administrator knows her residents and doesn't stay in her office all the time. The staff is always pleasant towards the residents. Having worked in an assisted living and worked in the memory care unit I know how hard and over whelming it can get at times. This place is one of the best I have been to.
