My mom is in Pelican Bay for assisted living. I think it's the best in Beaumont or she wouldn't be there. I visit her every week. I live nearby there. Her room is like a little apartment, it's nice and neat. They probably have the same activities as everywhere else. They have entertainment come in, and they have bingo and all the little things that they normally do there. They have a salon and a gym, a little place that you can go in and work out whatever exercises. They have a courtyard there. The food is good and there's plenty of it. The staff is great. In terms of upkeep and cleanliness, you walk in and you can't tell that it's assisted living.
They're under new management, with the exception of the original owner, with his exception, this administration here is much better than the previous one. I don't have any complaints. They're easy to communicate with, and anytime you need to speak to someone, they're available. The nurse there, her cell phone is available 24/7, so I couldn't ask for anything better than that. I like the way they communicate much better than the previous owner.

My tour at Pelican Bay Assisted Living was mainly for assisted living, but they also took me to the memory care unit when I was there. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The layout was beautiful. It was functional, and the facilities were top notch. They have lots of activities. There was a gentleman playing music in the main space, and a couple of residents would get up and dance as he sang.

It's been two months since mom is at Pelican Bay. It’s a smaller community -- brand new and very clean as well. The staff was excellent, and it is closer to my home.

My aunt and uncle had been at Pelican Bay before, and that’s why we prefer Mom to be there. I could see that they were very caring and kind to the residents. The staff is just wonderful and the food is delicious. She was in the regular side, assisted living, and she is now on the memory care side. I think she probably enjoys playing cards the most. They have people come all the time in the evening to play music, and they have a happy hour on Fridays. Once a month or once every two months the families can come and they put on meals and have some activities going on so that everybody can be involved, and it’s a very nice thing.
Within 3 minutes there is a subdivision that has a golf course. The owner takes a group of residents to lunch and pays for the lunch. They take them out the stores and shopping, usually once a week, and they take them out sight-seeing. They’ve got ice cream socials each week. I would definitely recommend the place, as my mom is happy there and she likes the food. It’s very clean and nice place too.
