My friend moved in at Royal Retreat Assisted Living. They just opened up in October and it's privately owned. Everything is really nice right now, been remodeled, and they have big rooms. It was a place that felt like home. The transition was great. The people are very caring. You can see how much they care and the way they treat their residents. The owner is very involved with the residents. He has breakfast and dinners with them. He wants to know what's going on. He gets involved in their lives, so he knows everything about them. My friend's room is very large, and I was surprised at the size. The shower bath is very nice. The complimentary internet and cable is nice. There's plenty of room for all of her furniture. She has her own heating and air conditioning, so she can control the temperature in her room. She has two large closets, which was nice too. The maintenance is always going on with them being a new facility. Even with all of our freezing temperatures where they have water pipes break throughout the city, they were able to bring in whatever they needed to make sure that there was adequate water. So they're on top of all their maintenance, and the place is always clean. They come in twice a day and clean the bathrooms, mop down everything, make sure everything's clean. One of the things that impressed me is when you walk in it smells clean, and it's very pretty. The nice surroundings, the eating areas, and the sitting areas are very well furnished and nice. I've never smelled an odor yet. They do lots of different activities. At Christmas, they had lots of people coming in, doing caroling and different things. They have a game room and then they go through bingo trivia. They have an exercise program that they're doing so they can be inside. As soon as the weather gets nice, they have a very large private garden area where they can go out and do things. The food is always very good and well prepared. It's always hot and always on time. Each individual can say what they like and don't like, so that they're not giving them something that they don't want.
