About This Community

Welcome to The Glenmary at Evergreen!

At The Glenmary, we are a diverse and special group of people who are dedicated to providing seniors with a lifestyle that meets their personal and social needs in an atmosphere of love and care. Our staff is highly trained in their areas of expertise to address the care needs and concerns of seniors. We have some of the most dedicated and talented individuals working here at The Glenmary!

The Glenmary is one of the few gated senior communities in the Memphis area. What makes us really special is our location in Midtown Memphis, which is in one of the most beautiful, historic and accessible areas of the city. Our team is committed to providing a safe and secure upscale living environment for seniors. This includes our 24-hour concierge services that are available to all residents.

We are fortunate to offer a variety of floor plans to meet your needs at The Glenmary. We have studio, 1-, 2- and 3- bedroom apartments available across the community. Each home includes stainless steel appliances and beautiful granite counter tops! We offer you a variety of sizes ranging from 574 square feet up to 1221 square feet!

The Glenmary is located in the Vollintine Evergreen National Historic District. We have our own private locked entry gate onto the Vollintine & Evergreen Greenline that is a 1.7 mile urban greenspace converted from an old railroad track. The Greenline provides a natural, serene space for members of the community and beyond to exercise, walk their dogs, observe wildlife, or even visit with fellow users of the Greenline. From “The Springs” to “The Arbors” to “The Gardens” to “The West End,” you can get to know the different sections contained of the Greenline, Midtown Memphis’ Urban Forest.

Award winning housekeeping services are provided at The Glenmary as part of the living experience in our community. Our housekeeping staff will come to your apartment every other week to clean bathrooms, dust, vacuum carpets and mop hard wood floor surfaces. Your service also includes sanitizing your kitchen and we will wash and dry your bed linens and towels. Some other highlights of our community include our Country Store just off our Grand Lobby where you may purchase snacks, drinks and personal care items and charge them to your apartment.

Our residents like to use our Grand Lobby for relaxing and socializing with our guests, staff and other residents and it is a busy area with family and friends stopping by. We have a beautiful Bistro and Library available to our residents just off the lobby. Here we offer complementary coffee and cappuccino all day while our residents relax, visit and enjoy our media area. Our residents also access the free Internet in the bistro using one of our computers. On any given day you can find a group of ladies playing Bridge or a group of men playing Poker in our Bistro! We have a beautiful Hair Salon that is one of the most popular places in our community. Our Beauticians provide a full service beauty shop for the ladies and barber services for men. All you have to do is stop by or call, make an appointment and our staff will be glad to take care of you!

All residents have their own mailboxes that will allow them to check their mail at any time in the convenience of our building instead of going outside. Each mailbox matches an apartment number and becomes part of the resident’s mailing address. If a resident needs to send mail, they simply bring it to the Concierge desk and we will make sure the Postman picks it up. If you have packages arriving via UPS or FedEx, our Concierge staff will sign for them and let you know that you have a package waiting for you downstairs.

If you don’t feel like cooking tonight in your apartment, you can always join us in the dining room. We serve 3 delicious meals a day, restaurant style, prepared by our Executive Chef and his staff. There is always a choice of entrees to choose from along with our daily specials. We also offer our residents the Midtown Room, which is a private dining room for special occasions with family and friends free of charge.

One of our unique features is our in-house movie theater for planned movie nights, arts appreciation and special sporting events. It’s not uncommon to find our theater packed for the Super Bowl, the Academy Awards and other special programs that appeal to our residents. The Parkway Club is another wonderful place in our community that has a dance floor and a stage where we host bands and live entertainment throughout the week. We also hold a regular Happy Hour each Friday afternoon where we serve snacks and an open bar. The residents look forward to this social hour every week! We also use this room for bingo parties, auctions, birthday parties…the list goes on and on… Residents also rent this room out for private events such as weddings, family parties, baby naming and special events. There are lots of activities to choose from when you live at the Glenmary!

Many of our residents enjoy our fully equipment fitness center that is available for our residents and their guests. This gym is also a great place for physical and occupational therapy needs when our residents return home from a rehabilitation stay. Our crafts room is where our Activities Director and staff gather with residents to do arts and crafts projects. Their works are displayed around our community and inside the resident’s home.

The Glenmary is one of the few senior communities that have an outdoor pool and cabana for their residents. This is a great place to being grandchildren, join a water aerobics class or just float awhile in the comfort of your very own backyard pool! Our Activities department will also use this area for our annual Beach Party and other social events using our cabana club house kitchen and grills.

The Glenmary has an Assisted Living community housed on two floors within our building. For those residents living in this part of our community, we provide medication management, meals, wellness checks and other support services to allow them to live as independently as possible. Our Assisted Living community is led by a nurse and we offer 24 hour nursing oversight for these residents. For the most part, our Assisted Living residents participate in all community activities but there are also some special things that take place dedicated to these residents. Our Activities team can be found in Assisted Living every day providing numerous activities in a smaller setting so that these residents can remain fully engaged and participate in our community.

At The Glenmary, we have a fleet of three buses that we use to escort our residents out into the community. Our transportation team can take you to the doctor or to shop at local establishments so there is no need to have a car while living at the Glenmary. Our buses run regular routes to the local malls, restaurants and community events. As you can tell, life at The Glenmary at Evergreen is fulfilling and provides a wide arrange of opportunities for every resident so that they can remain fully engaged and active! I look forward to meeting you and your loved ones in the coming weeks! For your personal tour or to get additional information, just give us a call!

I was very impressed with the energy of the people at The Glenmary at Evergreen. Everybody was friendly. The place was very clean. It smelled good when I walked in. I liked the atmosphere and there are a lot of amenities. I think it'd be a good spot for my uncle. We're very much considering relocating there.

I went to The Glenmary at Evergreen. I just like the fact that it didn't feel like an old folk home. It felt like you were going to a high-rise apartment complex with a lobby. They had a lot of mixed- use as far as just, most of them are just assisted living apartments that are like the first couple of floors, so they had a lot more action. When you walked in, you didn't walk into some people who, as they age, are just sitting in a wheelchair and not moving and just staring. It's just intimidating as far as when you're trying to look for somebody who's not 90, my mom's only 70. On the Glenmary, I like the fact that when you walked in, people were working. Contractors were coming in, maintenance guys were coming, families were coming in. It just felt like there was more activity that was taking place. That was normal behavior, a normal activity in the high rise that even little millennials would purchase. The first five floors are independent lving and they have two floors that are assisted living. Their tour fit my personality. She kind of just did the nuts and bolts of it for us. Like, here you go, here's the room, this here is that, and I appreciated that. She was great. I just thought she was just down to earth. She was young, fun. She knew everyone, every person that came by. It didn't seem like she was using it as a job to retire and just get by, and it felt like it was more of a calling.

I went to tour The Glenmary at Evergreen. I like the professionalism of the person that showed me around. I would give them a 3 because of the price. They need to lower their price. The staff was super. It was very clean. She was very prompt. The only facilities I've seen were their dining room and the apartment. They never told me of their amenities. It was close to the stores and things of that nature. The cleanliness was excellent.

The Glenmary at Evergreen is a high-rise community. The lady that helped us was very knowledgeable, and we went and looked at two separate units, a studio, and a one-bedroom. We had a good tour experience and they gave us a folder with all the information in it.

I toured The Glenmary at Evergreen for my wife, and I was pleased with what I saw. I think it was convenient to my location and easy to access, and that's what I was pleased with. I would describe it as just fair. I'm not saying there is nothing exceptional, just pleasant. It is an old building, but it was sufficient for my needs, and it seemed like it was clean. I like the fact that they have a balcony on the patio of the particular facility. It felt homey.

I thought Glenmary at Evergreen was good. The only drawback was my mother had slight dementia, and the room that they showed me would be on the upper level. I don't know if that would trigger her mind, and she might think that she could jump out of it or something like that. Otherwise, I thought what they offered would have been really good. It was in a good location. The person who toured me was excellent. When she first called me, she gave me all the information I needed.

My mother and aunt moved into the Glenmary at Evergreen and they love it. They take them out shopping, and they have stuff throughout the week, but my mom and aunt are still trying to get settled in. Everything is clean, they take care of them, they feed them well, and everything is great. Both of them are eating the food there, and they like it. They're remodelling the whole place, and they're keeping it up good. They have a beauty shop, a cafe, and a ballroom downstairs.

The Glenmary at Evergreen was very nice and clean. The people were very friendly. The rooms were very nice and spacious. We were pleased with it. They had a 1-bedroom and a studio, and we also viewed the actual assisted living portion, which is much smaller. They have a swimming pool, a very nice recreational area, and they meet regularly for games. They also have an art area so they keep them occupied.

I visited The Glenmary At Evergreen for my parents and it was very good. They gave me a tour and I liked the place. Everybody was very good and nice. The rooms were okay but they were a little small but these type of places tend to be really small. Eveything was clean and taken care of very nicely. I had lunch with the girl there because I wanted to try the food and just see the whole environment and it was good. The dining area was good. There were nice little tables, it was not like a big long cafeteria-type thing. I enjoyed my visit.

I found The Glenmary at Evergreen for my father. We liked that there was independent living and assisted living in one place. The big selling point is that he is able to spend most of his day with the people in independent living but have the things that he needs for assisted living. I’ve been very impressed with the staff and their services; they were very helpful from the beginning. We felt very at home there, plus my father knew a lot of residents, so that was helpful, too. They did a good job at making my father feel like part of the community. He doesn’t have a kitchen there because his meals are all prepared for him, but he does have a refrigerator and a microwave. I have seen the dining room, and the food looks excellent and very appealing to me.

The Glenmary at Evergreen is at the top of our list. They have been very nice to us, and they are very helpful. We have a couple of friends that are living there now, and they are vocal to us about how much they love it. The bedrooms and the living area are all of very nice size. The price, the space, and the living facilities are appealing.

It was $300 a month more than where my mother was, but we're very happy that she is at The Glenmary at Evergreen. She has made some friends, and it's a pleasant place to be. They have a lot of activities, but she doesn't like to do them. She doesn't want to go on bus tours or to the stores. The only one she participates in is bingo. I've been there for lunch and dinner. She complains about the food, but I thought it was good. They serve three meals a day. The only complaint I have is that it's a high rise, and most of their activity rooms are in the basement; a lot of the older people complain about it being a little chilly in the basement.

The Glenmary is an independent and assisted living as well. We were very pleased. The rooms were a little small. I don't think my parents would have been happy with the smaller rooms for two people. Now for one person, I think it would have been fine. The director was excellent. He took plenty of time with me and answered every question. I did see one activity, which is an exercise. They were doing great, and it looked like they were having fun. I like the facility. The only thing is for two people, their apartments may have been a little small. But as the director said, they don't want them staying in the apartment, but instead out in the building. It was excellent, and I can't see anything but positive. It was a very good visit.

I'm in independent living. I live at the Glenmary here in Memphis and have been for two years. I was looking for other facilities because I didn't pick this facility. My family picked it. This facility is for independent and assisted living. There are eleven floors here. Three of the floors are assisted living, and the rest of the floors are independent living. All your meals are included in the rent. It is an excellent facility. It is fine, and I love it. It is gated and they have 24 hour security. The apartment is cleaned every week by the cleaning crew. They take you shopping three times a week, and they take you to plays. They have housekeeping, dining room staff, and home health care. Everything that I enjoy is in independent, and I love it.

Glenmary was nice, but it was a high rise and I felt like she would be better in a one level. Their rooms were really nice as well as the dining room. They were very good.

They're nice at Glenmary. They do everything. They give medicine, wash clothes, clean the room, and take them to the doctor for free. The rooms were nice. He just got a studio, but he doesn't need that much space. They have larger ones if you want. The food is thought to be very good. They have whatever senior citizen activities, like bingo and they take them to park on outings. It was more diverse than other ones. They're economical, too.

It's been almost a month now since my Mom move to The Glenmary. The facility is clean. They provide their food. The staff is very good, very caring, very gentle. They have all kinds of activities. They even go on field trips.
