My mother has moved into Brookdale Central. The main reason for choosing that one was the people (the staff and the other residents). It was just the friendliest place that we visited. The place is lovely. The atmosphere is just homey and friendly, and it's relatively small compared to some, which contributes to making it homey. The rooms are lovely. My mother has a studio. There's no door, but it's like a one-bedroom apartment. It's really nice and quite spacious. They've got a beauty salon, activities going on, music, and bus trips. I have not eaten there myself. However, my mother says that the food is quite good, and there's always a selection if you don't care for the main offering that day. They've got soups and sandwiches and salads. The dining room is lovely. They have cloth tablecloths and flowers on the table. It's really, really nice. I could not say enough about how friendly and accommodating the staff are.

I toured Brookdale Central and I liked all of it. It was well laid out and organized. The staff seemed helpful and the residents appeared to be content. They had a shower, a communal area for folks, and an outside area where people could go outside. They had a piano and they also had somebody planting flowers. It was geared up towards freedom of movement. That's what I liked.

This community is newly renovated. It is a cozy atmosphere. The staff was friendly, understanding, and helpful from start to finish. I was impressed with the amenities especially all the options of floor plans. It was an obvious choice for my family and the salesperson made the entire process easy because of their knowledge, compassion, and communication.

The marketing person at Brookdale Central was extremely pushy. It was almost like dealing with a used car salesman. Also, they had very old buildings and the rooms were extremely small. It just did not look like it had much to offer. They have a beauty salon, but the best thing about Brookdale Central is their charge per service. It's not an all-inclusive facility. So, the fees can get extremely expensive quickly if we had health issues, meaning if my mother-in-law needed assistance in bathing or dressing. We pay for whatever they have to do and that could run the money up.

I visited a family friend in Brookdale Central. It was a good experience. I liked the way that the staff interacted with the people that were there. There were a lot of interactions. The room was up to par, the layout was good, and he was comfortable. The meal looked good, and the outside area was good as well. When I was there they were playing board games, they were reading books, they had a library, they had a TV area out in the common areas as well, they had a courtyard where they could go and mingle and talk. They do different projects every day for the patients that stay there.

The facility is nice and for the most part the staff are friendly and caring; however, there is a very high turnover rate for kitchen and resident care staff and the care providers are NOT required to have any specialized training nor do they receive any. Resident caregivers are not equipped to handle the special needs of the population with dementia or other special needs. During the day-shift weekdays the facility is well staffed, but in the evenings/night and weekends they are way understaffed, so much so to the point that residents are not given the time, attention, and quality interaction they require and deserve. Residents who require assistance with feeding (advance dementia stages) do not receive assistance with feeding/drinking. These same residents are sometimes handled roughly when resisting activities such as bathing, dressing, or using the restroom (by the untrained and/or unexperienced revolving-door staff). The food depends on who is in the kitchen, and that changes frequently too. As far as activities, they do not go above and beyond to provide true interactive, engaging, or challenging activities- tv, bingo, radio playing.
There are far worse places out there. They just need to get to do a better job of hiring qualified people and actually train their staff to properly handle the needs of their residents, and they need to be better staffed number wise at all times when residents will be up, active and require attention.

We chose Brookdale for my mother, and everything is good so far. They serve three meals, and she has her own good-sized room. They have attendants on duty 24 hours a day. They have nurses that come in, and the doctor comes in once a week. The people assist them by getting their medication. It has a reasonable price.

Brookdale Central was pleasant as it could be. Most of the residents who were mobile were in the attractive front room. It was a large area, and the those who were able to walk sat in regular chairs.

We got my mother in Brookdale community, and we are very pleased. She enjoys it. She is playing bingo and goes on shopping trips, and it worked out really well. Very professional home environment and very well staff. The transition of her getting her in was just very smooth. The facility is great, and the staff is wonderful. There are various sizes of rooms. Mom has got sufficient room; she’s got a microwave, a refrigerator, and a really nice, large bathroom. They painted it before she moved in. The dining area is very nice and can take everybody at one time. This place only has 47 rooms, and some rooms are double.
A lot of human engineering on that place and how the doors open. They have physical therapy, exercise, and bingo, and they frequently go out on shopping or lunch trips. They have church every Sunday, they have a movie night, and they have a series where people talk about different countries; Spain is this month.

Everything about Sterling House of Central was great. When my mother is ready, that is where we are going to have her go. The staff was great.

My parents are staying in Sterling House of Central. We chose this facility because we like it and it is located where we have family in the area. They are in there for a little over a year now. We also chose this because it is a locked-down facility. My dad has Alzheimer's and tends to wander if the door is open. My mom is with him and they can keep them together. The staff is very good and their food is fine. They also have activities for the residents. If we could afford to keep them there, we would but we can't because money is going quickly. They don't accept Medicaid either.

My father lives here and he seems to be ok with the care he receives. I agree, and I think that he is receiving quality care. They have alerted our family of any health concerns as soon as they appear, and it seems that they truly do care about my father, and about us. He is always clean, and he is always well taken care of. I feel like they truly care about us as well, whenever we ask any question about my father no matter how mundane or annoying it seems the staff always takes care of any of our questions and concerns. Highly recommended!
