My father moved into The Woods at Cedar Run. We chose it because it is located close to my house, the price was right, and the community was right. He has a 1-bedroom apartment and it's nice. They have a couple of activities every day. He's in the Bible club and the chess club. He plays bingo, and they have movies. It's an older facility, but it's nice. What's nice is they have a cleaning person that comes in once a week to vacuum everything and do light housekeeping in my dad's apartment. There were just a few little things like they were a little slow on getting my dad's evening pass to get in the doors from outside after 7 PM. It took him about a week and a half to get that form. Just little things that were kind of upsetting, but they weren't dealbreakers by any means.

My father moved into The Woods at Cedar Run. It's wonderful. His unit is a one-bedroom about 700 square feet. It has a full kitchen, a bathroom with granite, a washer and dryer, and a balcony. It's a beautiful facility. They go to the grocery store three times a week. They have plays. They have a movie theater on site. They have a chess club, devotionals twice a week, and bingo twice a week. You name it, they have it all. The food is excellent. They eat dinner in a solarium that overlooks a creek and a walking path. Their common areas have a dual-side fireplace with a library and a computer room. It's nice. The staff there are all very accommodating, very nice, and very pleasant.

Mom was at The Woods at Cedar Run for almost a year. She was very unhappy there. The quality of their food significantly deteriorated over the time that she was there and this was a fairly expensive facility. Some things were nice though. They had a movie night once a week, they tended to have some sort of a celebration for most holidays so they had outside activities for July 4th and a carnival or something like that. They also had a person who brought in emotional support dogs a couple of times a week and a wine/happy hour once a week.

I just loved The Woods at Cedar Run. Everybody was friendly and the woman that gave the tour answered all my questions. I liked that there was so much to do. They had excellent monthly plans for anything that you really could want, and everything was conveniently located for everybody. Dinner would be included and you have a small kitchen in the apartment where you can prepare breakfast or lunch (although you can get breakfast and lunch there as well). They have a big dining room, which was very beautiful. They also have a little bistro where you can get salads and sandwiches. They have a library, a computer room, a chapel, a theater, a beauty parlor, a doctor on staff if you happen to need that, a therapy room, and a lot of stuff. Then there were various clubs for games like cards/bingo, exercise classes, vans that would take you shopping/all different kinds of stores, people that come in to teach classes, various arts and crafts, and entertainment.

I went to The Woods at Cedar Run. We went through all of the levels, but the independent living was the one that we saw the room and got an explanation for. The tour was very good and very thorough. The woman started out bringing us into her office and just gave us a brief description of things and what to look for and what to expect and so on. They toured in a very organized way. They gave us a tour of the whole building and that was very thorough. They showed us where the cafeteria was, where the rooms were, where the physical therapy was, where all of the activities were, and so on. When we finished, we felt like we had a good understanding of the community. We didn't try the food, but we were there around lunchtime, so we saw the different meals that were being served and they looked appetizing. I like the fact that they had two choices at each meal. The facility was very clean and very presentable. The rooms were nice.

We visited The Woods at Cedar Run Independent Living. Their rooms are very small with the one that we toured. The entrance to the bathroom itself was so small I couldn't get my walker through the door. The layout was beautiful. The staff wasn't the person that was supposed to do it; it just seemed like he was out of the element. They have two dining rooms, one for independent living and another for assisted living. The place could be improved, the carpet was very dirty. We saw a TV room, and a huge library. We did not see any activities. They only serve one meal a day. The layout was nice, but the cleanliness needed help. They could get boards on floors or get rid of the carpeting because it was really dirty.

The Woods at Cedar Run was a very nice but much older place than the other two I saw. They have lots of things for you to do. I would have been in the senior living part, but they also had the rest of the assistance if you need it. The people who live there and the staff are friendly with each other. Everybody knows each other's names. The rooms are nice, but they are smaller. Of course, everything is a little older. They had a kitchen with a stove, so you don't have to go for meals. They only provided two meals a day. There's quite a few activities. They have bus trips to different activities, tourist attractions, local stores, and doctors' appointments. They also had a small courtyard.

My mother is at The Woods at Cedar Run right now, and I'd like to make a comment on this place. The food is awful. I speak with my mother every day, and she tells me how awful the food is. It's not adequate, they run out sometimes, and it seems burnt and rubbery. They get the same salad every single night for supper, and it's always white iceberg lettuce, one baby tomato, and one slice of cucumber, every single night without exception. There is never a change. Dessert is usually a cookie, and sometimes they run out of those. She said everything else is nice. The people are nice. They have nice housecleaning services; however, the food, which is so important to seniors, she said is not nutritious and sometimes not edible. She is in the independent living section and she has her own apartment, and it?s quite adorable. She is very happy with her room.

My husband used to volunteer at The Woods when he was first diagnosed with Alzheimer's. When he first needed to go some place, he's contacted them but they didnt have a slot. When one became available, we moved him there. I like the location of it. It's near me. It's half a mile from my house and it's also like a long driveway, so there's no road around it. You don't get all the noise from the road so it's a very peaceful and quiet drive. My husband has been treated very nicely there. They're keeping him busy and he's happy. There's a brook that goes down shores that he can walk down and sit next to the brook. It's wonderful! The food was excellent. Absolutely good you'd think you're in a five-star restaurant. They start with soup, then salad, then a full cup and then your entree. That's on a linen table cloth, linen napkins and it's well-decorated. Honestly you would think you were in a hotel. Feels like you're a VIP there! He's really happy there. This is the third place that we tried and this is the first one that he's completely content with.
