I visited Featherstone Assisted Living about a month ago. It's older, but it's still decent and feels pretty homey. They keep it up pretty nice. The staff during the tour was real nice and helpful. They showed us around the rooms they had available.
I live down the street from Featherstone. When I drove by there, there's a group that I went to high school with, and they had their old cars pulled up there in the facility. I noticed that some of the people were out there, and they had shade cover. They were cooking out for all the people that live there and letting them look at the cars. They also had arts and crafts.
When my sister and I were there about a month ago, we inquired about the grounds upkeep. The staff told us that they had just hired a new groundskeeper because it needed to be mowed at the time we were there. I drove by there almost every day, and I noticed they got it mowed.

I went to look at Featherstone Assisted Living. I like the staff and the cleanliness of the facility. It was close to where my mother wanted to be, where friends and everybody could visit. They keep people active. They had group parties and different things going on. The food is good. I saw a two-bedroom and one-bedroom, and they were good.

My mother used to be a resident of Featherstone Retirement. Were baffled by the layout. When getting in and out of the room the door only opens at an angle, and not all the way because there's a wall. As soon as you walk in you go to the left of the living area, then there's a narrow hallway leading to her bedroom, and in the hallway was the bathroom. It would be hard for people in a wheelchair to maneuver around the room, but she was real happy with them, and the people we met there were great. They have options for food and on Fridays its fish day, but my mom doesn't like their meals. She was doing some of their activities like bingo, exercising, and so on.

Mom lived at Featherstone Assisted Living for a month from December to January. The community was OK. The problem with it was that for Mom, the diet was wrong. They didn’t have much in the way of vegetables and the meals were heavy with a lot of fat. It caused a big increase in her blood pressure, and she gained a lot of weight. Her room was clean and well taken care of. She didn’t get as much attention there, but the staff was wonderful and as attentive as they could be. For the price, Featherstone Assisted Living was very good.

I have friends that moved in at Featherstone Assisted Living. They love it, but I was not fond of it. They are starting to do a lot of renovation and clean up, but we did see the rooms and as far as quality, they were not that good. The carpeting was old and worn a little bit.

Featherstone is a small facility. It has new owners, and it is completely renovated. I met with the people there, and they were great. They gave me a discount to help me for a while. They have a van to take people for their shopping. They can take them to the doctor's appointments. They have several activities there, and they have some outside activities that they take them. They have exercising too. They have an indoor storm shelter. Actually half of Moore was destroyed by tornado a couple of years ago, so that is a very important thing. It has everything one could want. They do the laundry for you and clean the apartment weekly, and there is no additional cost for those things. I'm very pleased with it, and it is just a mile from my house. I'm over there several times a week at different times of the day. It doesn't matter what time I go, everything is still great. The people are all great.
