About This Community

At Brookdale Austintown we know that memory losses due to Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia are progressive and residents' needs are continually changing. That's why we provide balance in our residents' capabilities, personalities, and preferences to create daily routines that enhance their spirits and increase their sense of purpose. We believe the amount of satisfaction our Alzheimer's and dementia care residents receive from the tasks that fill their days goes a long way to maintaining their sense of purpose and overall satisfaction with life. An integral part of this is our promise to encourage each resident to find Daily Moments of Success. To help our residents achieve these moments, our associates receive the tools and training needed in such key areas as specialized dining and the ongoing monitoring of healthcare and behavioral needs, to name a few.

We provide Alzheimer's and dementia care residents with the lifestyle, housing, and services they need in comfortable surroundings combined with the amenities, programs, and care to help stimulate recognition, recall, and wellness in a safe environment. Through years of caring for individuals with dementia, our professional care staff has learned to create optimal surroundings and approaches to care. Familiar environments that our residents have enjoyed throughout their lives are recreated to help them feel reassured and comfortable. The Alzheimer's and dementia care programs at Brookdale Austintown are built to embrace, not restrict our residents' desire to wander and to provide a sense of belonging.

When my mom moved in to this place about 7 years ago it was so nice. It was clean and smelled nice. The sales person was so wonderful and helpful and the nurses were great. Something happened though with changes in the managers happened. The past three female managers just didn't care about the place it seemed. They came in late and left early and when they were there usually stayed behind closed doors so the sales person or the nurses had to help us most often. The food is always some nasty version of white, bland or tough. There are never any activities going on because the activity person is either eating in her office or on her cell phone. They are always short of help. It has looked like a dump with dirty old furniture and carpeting and started smelling like per for awhile. They tried to put a couple new chairs here and there but even those are not kept clean and smell. We had to wait through a long period of her room being treated for bed bugs a couple times and found out they were all through the building! The outdoor patios used to be so pretty with gardens and flowers and now they are just dirty and messy most of the time and we can't find a clean chair to sit on. The last manager this past year or so has been extremely nasty when we ask to talk to her so we just stopped. We felt like a lot of good employees that helped to make it bearable left because of her nastiness to them. We would move but mom has progressed so far we just don't want to put her through a move. We go there as much as we can to check on her. We can't go to the manager because we are fearful she will be even nastier to us and maybe even mom. We are making this review anonymous because of that. It is all just so frustrating to watch this great place we chose go downhill. They keep making promises so we hold put but honestly we are not sure how much longer we can.

Brookdale Austintown was very nice. They showed us the single person room and it was adequate. It was private pay only and that was the biggest reason why we didn't go there, because we just don't know how long my mother's funds will last. They go out to different areas and there's a wide variety of activities. They serve three meals a day and they have transportation there. The staff member was very informative during the tour.

Clare Bridge only accepted private pay. The place was attractive and nice. Everything was closed up unlike other facilities which allow residents to walk in and out. They have an option for someone to share a room with someone else. The staff was very nice and helpful.

When we toured Clare Bridge, it didn't have an odor to it and it had carpeting. It's a locked down facility and most of the rooms are private. The staff is very friendly and outgoing. They have bingo, sing-alongs, exercises, and people would come in to provide entertainment.
