We're choosing Antonine Village because it's close to me, and I have several friends that have loved ones there. The memory care unit is a locked facility, so they can't get out accidentally. My sister will be wearing a FOB that's registered to her; they'll always know who she is and where she is. We've paid the first month's rent, and we'll be on Medicaid. Her room used to be an apartment, and they have divided it into two. There's another lady that's actually in the bedroom. My sister will have the area that used to be the living room, which is quite large. I think it's going to be easier on her to be in a bigger space. She's afraid to be alone, and there's another lady right in the apartment with her, so I think that's going to be good.
I have only seen 2-3 other places, and this one is much nicer. It's run by the Antonine sisters, which are nuns. They're all just kind and caring. They came over here specifically to open a facility for the elderly. They just have a real heart for the elderly. I met some of the nurses, and they were all so kind.
It looks to me like they're keeping them pretty busy. They stay after breakfast, and they do some activities together. Then they have some time that they can go back to their room. They go back, and they do singing. It sounds to me like they keep them pretty busy, which I think is really good. Everybody that I've talked to has been happy with the food.
This section of the place is like 5 years old, and it's beautiful. This is in the country, and I actually saw deer in the background. There's a gazebo, and there's outdoor areas. They're all fenced in, so that they can't get hurt. I just think it's beautiful. There's 24 people in the memory care unit, and that's a nice size.

Antonine Village is a large, clean, fairly new facility. The staff was very nice when I visted and answered all of my questions. The dining area is retaurant-style. They offer some activities for residents to do at the facility.

My father is in Antonine Village, and the staff is very well. During the day, they have an adult daycare program, so they take him there, which he absolutely loves. Even though he has Alzheimer's, he still likes to be social. It just makes me feel so good. I'm glad they have that.
