About This Community
At Portland Place, we provide thoughtful, compassionate care in a warm, lively senior living community. We develop individual care plans to meet the needs of each resident, and a full-time registered nurse is available 24 hours a day to provide clinical oversight and coordination of care. We welcome pets and help our residents thrive in mind and body through activities, such as tai chi, book club, arts and crafts, chair dancing, sing-alongs, popcorn and movie nights, songs of praise, and bingo. We also offer many invigorating outdoor activities, including horseshoes, picnics, and outings for shopping, dining, and visits to the local senior center. I would NEVER send a family member there again. They are rude and unclean. The administrative staff is horrible. They just want your money. They raise price every month. Food is NOT healthy. Rooms are not clean, even though you pay for housekeeping. They do not do any activities to keep the residents mentally stimulated. Administration tells lies, we had to start recording conversations because they would go back and say they didn't say that. Documentation is not kept correctly with medication distribution. So who knows what they are really getting. It is HORRIBLE. Family member there over a year and so glad they are out now!! Ridiculous for 5,000 a month for smallest room available and loved one was able to walk, shower, eat, and dress by herself! They raised the price every single month!!! Didn't even tell us, just came out direct from account!
So Very Unhappy
Don't take your loved ones here!!!!!
This place does nothing but charge more to do less! My Mom has been here for a year and she has had so many urinary tract infections from sitting in dirty underwear and not getting enough fluids! When I go her teeth are not in her mouth and she cannot consume any healthy food. They load their clients up with sugar and seem under staffed. The staff turns over a lot. I've been there when there were no sheets on her bed and none of her sheets were laundered even though she has multiple sets. Also her clothing is mixed up with other residents even though her initial and room number are on each item. She is often covered in food on her clothing. They don't bathe her enough and say Hospice is supposed to do that the 3 times a week they come. Obviously their hospice staff is not up to par either. She now has cradle cap scabs all over her scalp. Her legs are constantly bruised from lack of fluids and moving. My Mom has memory loss but is mobile and very agreeable. She just needs guidance through out the day on what to do next. Our family hopes to get her out of there as soon as we can make other arrangements.

My relative is in Portland Place. They have activities like family nights and bingo. They take them on bus trips. It is pretty well rounded. They serve three meals a day, and they serve whatever they want whenever they want it. The staff is doing a pretty good job. They take her to the doctor's appointments when needed. They people in there seem to care and try to keep their needs met.

The community feels like home...very inviting. My mother loves the food which is served like a fine dining restaurant. She is not one to participate in much but there are plenty to choose from. At any time of day you can find residents in the main living/dining rooms playing cards, doing puzzles or chair yoga or enjoying a game of trivia or a social hour. It is wonderful for those with memory/ dementia as it is a rectangle with courtyard in middle so no matter where they wonder they will come back to main area. The front door requires a code to enter. And all other doors are fire doors

I am very impressed with Portland Place. It has an open floor plan, so when you walk in, there's a nice large area with couches, chairs, a fireplace, and a TV. Next to that is an open dining area, which is set up very nicely, too. The layout is a bit different because the building is narrow but long. The front is narrow and looks small, but when you go in, it is quite large. I think some residents who have memory issue may be confused with all of the hallways there. The rooms are beautiful. The staff is very welcoming.
