We spoke with their Marketing and Admissions team while in the hospital and they were very helpful, knowledgeable, caring and supportive when it came to arranging for my loved one to be transferred to the facility. All of our questions were answered before coming and the transition was smooth. We had a very warm welcome when we arrived and we were very happy with the therapy and care given during our short term stay.

My husband was in Meadow Wind Health Care Center in Massillon from July to August of 2021. He started in rehab and he wasn't quite ready to come home. I would have kept him in there, but COVID happened, so I went ahead and brought him home because I could take care of him better at home than have him at risk of getting COVID. The COVID came to that place so I brought him home.
They were nice and they took good care of him. I have no complaints at all. The food was good. I would eat with him every night because, for a while, I had to feed him so I figured I'd just go ahead and eat with him during supper. He ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and loved it. Up to that point, he wasn't eating when he was at home. When he got there, he started eating again so we would have supper every night together, every day, 7 days a week, and he loved the food. There was plenty of food that he would have, enough to keep something over for a snack. If he wanted a snack, he could also get a snack anytime with juice or water or something to drink.
They couldn't have the big social activities because of COVID. For about 3 or 4 weeks, he was able to go to the cafeteria and eat but they were socially distanced. They had vending machines, which he was able to relearn how to use. Something happened with his brain and we're not sure what, but he lost a lot of functions. He didn't have a stroke, but something happened there.
We didn't have to stay there long, so for us, it was worth it. For the kind of care he got, it was worth it.

The activities staff is amazing and caring to patients and family. If only the nursing and food staff were the same. My grandfather has been at MW for a month now. Food is atrocious. Staff are not helpful with a few exceptions... like Lonnie. He's been great. They won't give me a menu even a day at a time. Only right before the meal is served. They won't cut up the food so he can eat it. It's too hard for him to chew or cut with a fork. Only substitutions are sold, Hamburger or hotdogs every day and he can't chew those. Nurses will not return family calls, are not attentive, and don't even communicate with each other much less patients and family. Therapists are a split. A few work well with the patients and caregivers and the rest won't at all. One nurse (or aide... you can't tell which) even refused to get him out of bed all day because it would be too hard to get him back on a bed pan if needed.

They have a lot of great stuff I could't get my mother to like a car show, yard sales, and the circus. The nursing care is excellent, and we have been very happy. The staff is easy to communicate with.

Meadow Wind Health Care Center, Inc. has the kindest most caring staff of any nursing facility I've ever encountered. And it has Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses on duty around the clock. It's a lovely 100-bed facility that has a state of the art physical therapy room. There is also a library and activities room that residents can enjoy. There are private and semi-private rooms & each room has it's own restroom so residents don't have to share. It's a great facility but the staff there is the best feature. They treat the residents with respect and do what they can to keep everyone comfortable and happy. My sister has been very happy at Meadow Wind and I'm thankful for that. She loves the staff and the facility. There's no other place that she'd go even if she could. To her it's home and that says a lot. And it makes our family more at ease knowing she loves it there.
