My mother had short-term skilled nursing at Concordia at Sumner. It's a beautiful facility, and everybody there had private rooms. They had a little sitting area and a lot of good activities for the residents. There were some good staff members and some great aides, but usually the night staff was not so good. They had one staff member that was rude to the patients and did not care at all. The food was pretty good, but they were short on staff members. There was one time when they brought lunch to my mother in her room, and she told the staff member that she had to go to the bathroom. They told her they were busy so she soiled her pants and had to sit in it for an hour. It's supposedly one of the better nursing homes, but they had staff members that didn't need to be there plus they were understaffed. We were under the impression that any transportation was part of the normal services, but we found out they had charged us for it.

My wife has moved into Concordia at Sumner. It is very good. The facilities are excellent. The staff is very good. The food is very good. My only complaint, and I understand that it is an industry-wide problem, is the staffing. Like over Thanksgiving they were short-staffed.The ones who work, who put in the hours, do a very good job. It is a beautiful place. They're currently expanding their independent living. The assisted living and skilled nursing facilities are four separate buildings and they're all one story. There are 24 residents roughly in each building. They each have their own dining room. The place is excellent. They have excellent activities. We have gone to some of the musical programs they put on. They put on at least one musical program a week. They have almost an activity every afternoon for those who want to participate.

I have visited Sumner on Ridgewood a couple of times. I was looking for a place for my aunt. The physical therapists are good as well as the helpers and workers there. The surrounding was beautiful and clean. I haven't tried eating there, but the dining room was wonderful. They only had one bedroom apartments. They were very clean and bright. The rooms had large bathrooms that made it possible to bring the wheelchairs in. The place itself was very easy to access and accommodating for seniors. The management should add a little more parking in the condos. Other than that, everything was great for seniors.
