My mom was at Greenfield Estates Alzheimer's Special Care Center. We felt as though my mom's safety was the number 1 to these folks over there that work there. They always had her on a watchful eye, so to speak. She even had like a sensor in the bedroom, so that if there was a lot of activity in her room, an alarm would go off at the desk and they would be able to know that there was additional activity there, which helped to prevent some falls. My mom in her previous places that she stayed, did have multiple falls, but here she didn't. My mom over here at Greenfield Estates was confined to a wheelchair or one of those lounge chairs, so she really couldn't walk anymore because of her Alzheimer's. But she was always under the observation of somebody, particularly during the day, and never was she not with somebody, which was wonderful. They gave her routine bathing. It was twice a week, she had showers and stuff and was just very well cared for. My mom's skin integrity was beautiful. She just was doing well. They would know how to handle any kind of behavior that was inappropriate or out of line. They just didn't resort to drugs and medication. They tried to distract her and do other things with her to preoccupy her. Overall, the people were very nice there. The aides knew me by my first name, and we were only there a couple of months. They're very genuine and caring people though. They changed my mom's clothes every day. In some places, I didn't see that in the past, but here they did do that. They kept her room very clean and tidy. Her bed was made every day, and their laundry service was very good. I had no issues at all. No complaints about the people, the care, or the service. None of that. We were originally at another facility and then they closed in. And when we went to Greenfield Estates, they even met the same cost of what I was paying at that place, so that was nice. We didn't have to pay additional monthly rates, so that was good. Everything was super. The nurses would call me at home if there was any issue going on. That constant communication was essential as a family member trying to feel more comfortable with my mom. We have nothing bad to say about Greenfield Estates whatsoever. It also was beautiful there. It was amazing how clean it is. If there was a spot on the carpet, they were cleaning it. They have activities every day. The one who managed the activities was very energetic and just a pleasant personality. She tried to engage the residents in activities. My mom never engaged in the activities, but they would still take her in there and allow her to be around the music and the excitement of what was going on in the room. Just because she didn't engage didn't mean that they ignored her, so that was wonderful as well. I truly think that they did a lot for a lot more for my mom at Greenfield Estates having an understanding of Alzheimer's. Even the hairdresser who did her hair there was very personable (because they had a beauty salon there). They just knew how to handle a dementia patient as opposed to a passerby coming off the street. They probably go through some kind of training, I'm sure because they did beautifully with that piece of it. When we got there to their rooms, they already had queen-sized beds, and they had a bedside table in there, which was nice. The room was not empty when you got in there. Now, my mom eventually used a hospital bed, but they had the table lamp in there, which was nice. To provide even furniture in the room was unheard of. So that was a pleasant surprise.

It's excellent all the way around. They did so many things. My aunt also has dementia related psychosis, and they were just wonderful with her. She was one of the first few residents. It was lovely, it was really nice, and I thought like they really cared about the patients. They had fun stuff going all the time, lots of activities, and that's hard to do with so many different levels of dementia. They had a lot of turnover in the beginning, but they had a good director and a good nurse that helped, all the program directors that were there were excellent, and they had a really good staff. They were great. I would recommend them. The food was great, they had menus, they had choices, and that worked out really well. They had parties for them, they had fun food for that, and they had a lot of different food. One of the draws for my aunt to go to an activity was the food. If they had food, she'd be there. They had entertainers come in, kids come in, groups of teens, and things to do stuff. The facility was really very nice, she had a semi-private, a large bedroom, a shared bath, and they had a lot of common rooms. It was very calming.
