My sister-in-law was at Genacross Lutheran Services-Wolf Creek Campus. I was not able to get there because she was under COVID quarantine for two weeks. She only lasted three weeks, but as far as I could tell, they were very helpful for me every time I called. They were helpful for the family getting them in and just being able to see her. When I went to the place, I was very impressed with it. For having a lot of old folks around, it was extremely clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful, even just seeing how they interacted with the residents. It seemed like a very caring place. I was pleased she was able to get in there. I didn't get into her room and I wasn't able to see her after she got there and get settled in, but my impression of the place was very favorable. It's a little bit expensive, but it gave her what she needed and that's what we were glad for.
I was treated very nicely and very professionally, and they were very helpful. They went out of their way because I can't walk very well myself. When I first went in, I was just looking around for admissions and didn't realize I had passed it, but the lady got up from her desk and went and found the lady I was waiting to see. They were very helpful. I was impressed with the cleanliness. It just had this peaceful feeling, so I was impressed with it. I didn't realize they were that expensive. I never had to deal with a nursing home before and she was a private pay because she had money in her bank account. It wasn't a Medicare or Medicaid thing. If it would have been me, I couldn't have afforded it, but her family and she could afford it, so it was OK. They took good care of her.

My aunt was a resident of Genacross Lutheran Services nursing care. This community used to be very good but they're not anymore. They could use improvement on the care, leaving somebody on the toilet for 2 hours is ridiculous. The staff members were on their phones, so they were probably too distracted to get to the patient. The physical appearance of the place was very nice, it's clean and it looks great. My aunt was not satisfied with the food. The staff needs to improve in terms of skills and responsiveness.

If your parent has dementia! DO NOT TAKE THEM HERE. My mother had been here for a year and a half. and believed they would have her until the end. We wanted this to be her home and never have to move her again. That didn't happen. As her condition got worse, they said she was too much to handle. She ended up in the hospital for dehydration. When asked how she could get dehydrated the response was, we don't monitor them on how much they drink. Asked if she could go to the nursing home area and was told they can't take her because she wanders at night. She had dementia when we put her in there and was told as things got worse she would be moved to the different areas to help her needs. That didn't happen. She would refuse to eat so they wouldn't even take her to the dining hall. When we took her down they didn't give her anything. We asked if they were going to serve her and they said no, she never wants to eat. Eventually they brought her food and she ate it. She is one who will say she isn't hungry, but put food in front of her and she will eat it all! They seemed to have just given up on her. Soaked filled diapers left on her floor when I went to pick her up for church. The day we moved her out I went to pick her up and the aide asked what time they should expect her back. Seriously?! You weren't told she's moving out and it was her last day? She will never be back and I do not recommend this place to anyone with dementia.

My relative is at Lutheran Village at Wolf Creek. Many of the nurses and staff have been good but some of them aren't. The rooms look clean. I'd give the food a 4 because it looks like it's pretty tasty. They try to make it tastier than hospital food. They have social recreations.

I think Lutheran Village At Wolf Creek is excellent. My mother-in-law is very well taken care of there. They take care of all her and our needs and questions. They have assisted living, also, and a couple of dining rooms, chapel there, a beauty salon, and a community room where somebody on the weekends comes in and plays music. They have a happy hour where everybody gets together and play games. For socializing, it is absolutely great. For care, it’s also great. We ate there, and it was pretty good. The facility is extremely clean, and everything is kept up. As soon as something needs attention, they take care of it right away.
Husband w/TBI

My husband suffered a traumatic brain injury in early 2015. He was at Wolf Creek Village Nursing home for appx six weeks. The nurses, nurse's aides, therapists, etc. were compassionate, attentive and very professional. They not only cared FOR my husband's medical condition, they cared about him and our family! The staff here embraced our family's situation and encouraged and supported us, as well.
