Care is adequate to poor especially from some Nursing. Residents yelling for help. Staff Leave people unattended for extended period of time. Very poor management attitude who permit lower standards of care.

The tour at The Welsh Home was okay. I didn't see any activities going on, and it was quite boring. The staff members were pretty good, and they were pleasant. The outdoor was beautiful. The rooms were okay, very clean, moderate, and just typical. They do have an outdoor place where you can take your loved ones and look up at the pretty scenery. The grounds were really beautiful, and their garden was pretty.

I was impressed with The Welsh Home's therapy but I was not impressed with anything else. The service was lousy, as far as the nurses and the nursing care goes. I would not recommend it to anybody. It's a nursing home and my wife was a resident before she passed away 2 years ago and my biggest complaint was their nursing staff. She had a broken nebulizer and it took them 2 weeks to get another one. She's supposed to be using that every day. When it came to her medicine, they came 2 or 3 hours later or whenever they wanted to. The food is lousy too. They didn't give her a choice and they gave small portions. The place was nice as far as the physical appearance of it. They had a lake where the residents could sit and watch the ducks. The grounds were well-kept too.

Get up front in writing what you will be billed for. Pharmacy costs, therapy costs and any other services do not believe what they say. If your prescription plan is out of network you will be charged unbelievable prices for medications. The pharmacy will send you a threatening letter from an attorney about payment. Promises that they have prior authorized therapy wait until you get the bill for services. Any additional services ordered will probably not be covered as promised. Housekeeping is hit or miss. Rooms not cleaned daily. Laundry will mark you clothing with marker that can be seen (no dignity here) Dietary services nice people food is marginal. I can't even begin to explain the lack of infection control at the facility. Hand washing is not routinely practiced. Infections passed room to room. Some staff need to be looked at failure to report concerns and complaints to management.

I happened to stumble upon this site when looking at information on The Welsh Home and felt the need to write a review in response to a prior review that had been submitted. My Grandmother and my Aunt were both residents at The Welsh Home. They both started as skilled rehabilitation residents that transitioned into long term care and then eventually passed away. Both of them changed rooms multiple time, but each time was because of a need the facility and our family identified and would be the best fit for both my family members - closer to a nursing station, to a larger room for more privacy and family to visit near the end, etc.... I can not say enough about the care they were given. The facility treated them, and us, like we were their own family members. They have a Chaplain that was there at the end and was able to offer support through the whole end of life process and afterward. There is a reason I have had two separate experiences with this facility, because after my Grandma was here, we couldn't even imagine a better place for my Aunt to go. I would urge anyone needing long term care or skilled rehabilitation to go visit this facility, we highly recommend it.

My Grandpa was a resident here for rehab and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. The facility was clean and the quality of care was top notch.

Clean facility with wonderful care team. I had a friend who stayed there for rehab and she couldn't have been happier with her stay. We would recommend to anyone.

I had to make the decision to place my mom in this facility and it was by far the saddest day of my life when I had to leave her there. The care sucks, they moved my mom three times when she was in the facility and each time her disease progression got worse. The food is horrible and my mom was never bathed. When my mom passed no one offered their condolences, it was simply you have three days to get her stuff out we need the room. I think about my decision every day and have to live with the fact that I placed her in that nasty environment..Given the choice again I would not select this facility.

My mother recently spent several weeks to rehab after a hospital stay. The physical therapy and occupational therapy were great. The rest of the stay was not. The food is horrible. That is one thing that most elderly enjoy, and the food was pathetic. Cold, no choices. We would bring mom dinners from home. She was there over two weeks and only got one shower, even though we requested more. The noise in this place was LOUD, from the TV's in the rooms blaring to the help laughing and carrying on in the hallways. Hard for mom to get any rest. The people that worked here seemed very caring and nice though. Management never came around, Limited activities for residents. I feel sorry for those that are spending their final days here... If you are given a choice, choose another facility.

The Welsh Home is Beautiful and everyone gets a private room. But they do not want to give a lot care. When I placed my Mother there for care they said it would be her forever home. At first it was fine but I was there a lot to make sure she was well taken care of. I did notice that residence that did not have family would smell. When my Mother's disease got worse it was a huge bother for them to take care of her. She was there 1 year and they called my Father and I for a meeting. They said we needed to find another place for my Mother because they were scared she would sneak out. Now my Mother could not even turn a door handle? When they asked us to find a new place they never even suggested to have a doctor review her condition to see if possibly medication would make her more content. She was NOT violent at all but she was not happy a lot and was having a hard time sleeping. Also when they kicked my Mother out the Director of The Welsh Home was not in our meeting and couldn't be bothered with us. We actually called the State and we could of had a hearing to force them to keep her but what was the point when she wasn't getting the support/care she needed. Plus they gave us some place to look at and they really were horrible. We did actually find her a beautiful nursing home in Avon Lake and she ended up receiving wonderful care. But moving my Mom really set her back "Thanks to The Welsh Home"! Our family was so disappointed with the coldness of the management team.

I think that living in a nursing home would be awful, but since no one was able to care for my great-aunt any more, we had to place her in one. That being said, I can't imagine a better place than Welsh Home. The staff is friendly and attentive, the food seems good, and the facilities are clean. There are planned activities for the residents that many seem to enjoy, and a large common area for residents to relax and meet with family and other visitors. My great-aunt's room is shared with one other resident, and although it is not a large room, it doesn't feel terribly cramped. The furniture is comfortable and there is a television. The most important thing is that the attendants and other staff treat the residents with respect, and we feel comfortable knowing that my great-aunt isn't being mistreated or abused, and that she is safe and healthy there.
