The Landing of Poughkeepsie was beautiful. It's like a fancy hotel. The food smelled wonderful and the staff seemed decent. On initial reaction, it was pretty nice. It's not a cheap one, but your loved one is well cared for, and it looked nice. The staff during the tour was great. He was the head of the kitchen because we went on Saturday and it was close. They still found somebody helpful and he was very knowledgeable because his mother-in-law had also been there for two-and-a-half years. He used to work in a different facility and he came to the facility because he saw how great and clean it was. The food smelled wonderful. They have an activity center and they have a full-time activity director. The activity director makes sure that they have activity options each day and keeps them engaged.

My father is residing in The Landing of Poughkeepsie. The facility is fairly new and clean. They have a very nice entry, and it's only two stories. There's like a walkway that you can see from the entrance. They have elevators on either side. They have a large dining room for their three meals and snacks. They always provide fresh fruit. They have outdoor patio areas for sitting, a movie theater, a game room, and a café-style where they hold bingo and other activities. They have transportation to doctor's appointments and shopping a couple of days a week.
The residents all have call buttons for care. There's always health care available and somebody in the building to assist if you need help. They have a laundry service. They do medication distribution if needed for an additional cost. It's fairly quiet there. The biggest drawback is that, like everyone else, it suffers from a lack of employees. They do get a couple of choices with their meals. It is a tableside service, so it involves the employee. The director is great. It's very expensive, but I think my dad is getting good service.

My parents will be moving into The Landing of Poughkeepsie. We like the location because of the proximity to our home and doctors' offices. It was a little pricier. But a little nicer with the amenities, décor, and environment. Also, it was a true assisted living. They have 24-hour medical staff. It has pull cords for assistance, which is a requirement to secure the veteran's benefit. We've met with the salesperson, and everybody was very pleasant, so we had a positive experience. They seem to have very spacious community areas and sitting areas. They have a nicely decorated dining room and a back patio with nice outdoor gardens. They have a full schedule of various activities for residents. They offer transportation to medical appointments and shopping. They can help coordinate medical care at different levels as needed. We were shown the menus for the day in a week, so we could get an idea of what a typical menu would be. Maybe I could use a little more responsiveness from the sales representative. But again, it's all proceeding okay. They offer three meals a day and laundry.

The Landing of Poughkeepsie was a little cost prohibitive. Everything was like ala carte, and they didn't take Medicaid. It's a very nice upscale community. I was there about two years ago. There were upcharges for every medication pass if they need to get their meds. Meals were included, but I think the medication passes and any kind of assistance with ADL, there might have been an upcharge with that assistance. It's brand new and clean, but that was a few years ago, so I don't know how it's held up. The rooms seemed pretty decent. The location was decent, quiet, and kind of semi-rural. The director seemed knowledgeable and helpful. They offered up a bag of pastry to take home, but I declined.

My mom is currently living in The Landing of Poughkeepsie. It's very nice. I think she wasn't very happy with the food, but I think it's changed now. She likes it there. She has a good view from her room, but it's a studio room. I guess the staff is pretty attentive.

We love The Landing of Poughkeepsie. It's like a mid-luxury hotel. You get a very good feeling when you walk in. Everybody is happy and the people who work there could not be nicer. Everybody went out of their way. They introduced themselves and made us feel welcome and assured me that my mother was going to be in good hands. She's doing pretty well. She has a studio with a kitchenette, but they also have two-room suites and one-bedroom apartments. They have a happy hour, and the residents who are allowed to drink can have wine. They play games, they have arts, yoga, stretching classes, a little movie theater, a cafe, and a dining room. It's a nice place and it's big enough that you feel like you're getting some exercise walking around, but it's not so big that you dread it. The food is good. The facility is perfect, and it doesn't smell. Compared to other places we saw, this is the best value for the money.

I visited both the memory care and assisted living at The Landing of Poughkeepsie. The menu looked very good and the people were very nice. The facility was gorgeous, brand new, well set up,but it's very expensive and they don't take Medicaid. The staff was very nice and answered all our questions. They had more of a formal dining room, so it felt a lot nicer. They had a movie theater and activities throughout the day. They had a good program for the memory care, too. It felt homey.

My mom moved into the assisted living area at The Landing of Poughkeepsie last September, and my dad was in the memory care unit. It's a beautiful facility. They're short-staffed since the staff has dwindled over the past six months. It's getting a little bit better again for assisted living people, but the memory care unit is very understaffed right now. My mom's room is very nice, like a small studio apartment with a mini kitchen, eating area, a nice area for a bed and a TV, and a large bathroom to go along with that. The food was pretty good, but my mom complains every once in a while about it. They've got a considerable amount of activities like arts and crafts, yoga, exercise, and musicians who play in the common area. They also have wine tasting in the afternoons.

The Landing Of Poughkeepsie was absolutely perfect, but I couldn't afford it. The rooms were adequate. They thought of every little thing. I couldn't conceive of one thing they hadn't covered in that establishment. I wish I could afford to live there, but I can't. They have culinary trained chef. The dining room is open 12 hours a day for any meal at any time. To me, it was the most wonderful place. Everyone that I talked to was excellent. The lady at the reception desk and the fellow who gave us the tour were very knowledgeable and very caring. The staff I saw as we walked through was excellent as well. I didn't eat there but they gave us a going away package of galettes that would melt in your mouth and were wonderful. This place was like heaven to me. It's top notch. They showed a calendar of their activities which had four to six every single day throughout the month.

The Landing Of Poughkeepsie looked like a very nice place. The rooms were very nice. Everything was very nice. The place was less than a year old. The staff was very pleasant. The price was a little bit high, but that’s expected in New York. The location was not the best because it’s 25 minutes away. Also, my wife is not a candidate of this place anymore. I like that the place has a separate just for Alzheimer’s and dementia patients.
