I have already moved into Kingswood. The facilities are old, but they've been well kept. The food is very good. It's just not what they provide, you have many choices, and that's good. There are lots of physical activity. The people seem to be very friendly. Because of the friendliness of the residents, I would give it a 5. I haven't participated much in activities because there are so many problems, but I think they'll be just fine. I have been staying here for about a month now.

I visited Kingswood, and that's where I moved my husband. It looked like a really nice place at the time. They took him, and I told them about his behavior, but they said it wasn't a problem. They just couldn't wait to get us in there, and they got him there in just nine hours but neglected to order his medicines. He was agitated, they wanted me to come in the middle of the night and sit with him, and they kicked him out and didn't even give him a chance to get used to the place. The place was lovely, but the staff was very poor, and they didn't know how to handle him. They didn't have enough staff members to watch him. The food looked really good, and it looked like they had a lot of activities.

Kingswood is very clean and inviting. They have independent living up to assisted living and total care. You don't have to move out of the community at all. However, the problem with this place is that we don't foresee ourselves needing something like this in the near future and they are extremely expensive. In the independent living section they have small villas you can live in. The problem with that is, they put the villas far from the main building where the dining room and all the activities are, so it looks like you either have to walk or drive to the building.

My experience with Kingswood was not as good as the other place we visited. The rentals were much higher, and the apartments were not as nice. The staff who showed me around was very pleasant. I would not recommend them. I didn't like the looks of the apartments, and the cost; but they had a pool there.

We visited Kingswood, which was really nice, and the one that we were going to place my brother in. They had a nurse on the premises who answered all of our questions. We were there for an hour talking to her about different things. They had a van that would take him to his doctors’ appointments and residents out shopping. They had a menu in the beautiful dining area, with no set time for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

They obviously don't care about getting new patients. We have tried numerous times to speak with someone. The one time we did make an appointment, the woman failed to show up after I waited 35 minutes. They don't even have a receptionist. Its a wonder they have such high ratings.

The part I felt good about Kingswood was that they had a lot of people interested in musical things which my mother is. They had a Steinway piano. I felt like the people there were very kind, and they have a pool which my mother loves. The rooms were nice, and they had renovated many of them. It needed updating in the common areas, but it was not terrible; it was clean enough, but again, the outdoors was not what we are looking for. I felt like maybe they were short staffed just the way things went. The first time we went in, the sale person was not available, so this young man showed me around, and he was so wonderful. He showed me apartments and all. Then I wanted to take my sister to see, I talked with the sales person, and they said that they can't show us any apartment. We needed to qualify first financially, so my sister had taken a day off from work to go; we went back, made another appointment, and told them my mother's income, and she said they were ready to show us an apartment. We came back again with my mother, and that is when we found out that we don’t qualify.

We chose this community mainly for the location and the amenities that they could offer long-term. It is a spacious community. It is also runs like a home, not like a clinic. They also have activities here and the food is wonderful. I would recommend this place.
