This place is negligent. My father was there for almost 2 weeks. His food was cold, his meds were never on time, they lost his clothes, ants were everywhere. He called for help to go to the restroom. After 45 minutes he called again. They told him no one was available and to just wet himself. He then laid in the wet bedding and clothes for quite awhile until someone finally came to change him. Lastly his blood sugar dropped so low he had to be revived by paramedics. This happened two days in a row. I would never let any loved one go there

I had a family member in this facility for rehab and following are his comments and some from his family. First - kudos to Nik, nurses Kelly, Jody, Harold and all the aides were helpful and nice. However, the meds were often not delivered on time and even forgot to order them on occasion so did not get till next day. There were ants a couple days on the meal trays. Double portions that were asked for were not always received. Kudos to Dr. Best - he seemed caring and concerned about patients. From my family - the administrative staff did not respond in a timely manner to their phone calls. In fact, the administrator never did call back. Suzanna did eventually return calls and was nice. The front desk receptionists were all pleasant and helpful.

I was in a 3 man room. My area was 66 sq. ft. Sometimes I would have to leave the room due to the smell. The food was awful. Servings to small. I had to get double portions. Meals always late. Could not get coffee until 8:00am. Showers were scheduled only twice weekly. The nursing staff is overwhelmed and over worked mainly because they are short staffed. All the time. Therefore my prescribed medications were consistently late. I had to leave, would never go back there even for a visit. I would NEVER recommend this facility to anyone.

This facility has no fresh fruit. You have to pay for coffee with caffeine, ice cream and snacks. The personnel after 5 pm doesn't care about the patients. The administrative offices are non-existent. The worst facility I've ever been in.

Our families experience here was horrible. I would never recommend this place to anyone. They lack compassion and are very un organized. The rooms are terrible they stuff 3 people like sardines in a room. If you want to visit your loved one there no room. I really have nothing positive to say about this facility.

I found the staff to be extremely helpful. Answered all of my concerns. Social worker Nicole is pleasure to deal with. She answered all of my questions with helpful answers and most of all she knew how to communicate with people. I can appreciate that.

The rooms are double occupant with a few single's some have nice tv's others are older models. The staff are friendly with a lot of turn over. Activities are fine if you like BINGO if not hope you get the good tv's. There is a large dining area and patient's seem to enjoy the dining. You cant please everyone all the time though.

they did not take good care of a pressure sore on my moms butt by not changing the dressing as often as they should and she was running a fever of 101.00 for 2 days and developed pneumonia and ended up in the hospital .

I've been a visitor for 7 years to this facility, about 3-5 times a week. I had three very best friends at different times here for rehab and residency. Through these years, I have seen employees from nurses, doctors, aides, therapists come and go. Some that have left needed to. I've seen them hire others that are very compassionate and caring. The staff is trying to do their best to give enough attention to the majority of the residents. The residents here love bingo, ice cream socials, and spending time outside. On scale from 1-10, I would put a 6 for cleanliness knowing it is very difficult at certain times, like early mornings, to get to each room at once. I like to come at lunch time to visit more people in the dining room. I'm glad to see the facility encourages and brings down the residents to eat and socialize in the dining room. It is a healthier situation. The menus from 7 years ago until now are a lot healthier, tastier, well presented with a larger variety of menu. Also, the appearance of the residents are better groomed than when I would visit in previous years.

HORRIBLE. Please don't ever send your loved one to this facility. My uncle was a resident here and though the aides were nice and caring others were NOT! My uncle developed an infection that had been brewing for weeks and weeks there. When it was brought up to the wound care nurse and nurses they had brushed it off and replied with "it's great, nothing to worry about." He was suppose to go home and instead was transported straight to the hospital. We are lucky he got there when he did. This place needs to be SHUT down. the place had s very unpleasant smell. More than others down certain hallways. I am thankful my family and I could go see my uncle everyday, if we didn't I'm not sure what would've happened. I feel bad for the other residents there who don't have families. The rooms are decent but the TVs are bound to break at any moment which had happened to my uncles. It could be very dangerous if a TV was overhead of a patient.

It's been 2 years ago today that my father passed away in this facility and I can't forget the night before he died. I called at approximately 5:00pm on a Wednesday and the day nurse was leaving her shift. My father was in a small section for acute care but there was NO URGENCY for care and my father was left unattended. I talked to this nurse for a short moment and she said that she thinks my father has an infection but she was leaving for the night. He was on a ventilator and a feeding tube. I called back again at 6:00 and talked to the night nurse JAMES and he made the comment that my father was JUST FINE. I asked him to please go check on my father and I expressed my concern and told him what the other nurse told me about an infection. I asked for the head administrator but everyone left for the day. He said he was TOO busy doing paperwork to check on him. I hung up trying to believe my father was JUST FINE as he said. I called back again, and again that evening, but nobody would pick up the phone!!! I tried not to panic but I was frantic. I live out of state and had been flying into Michigan every 7-10 days for my father. At this time I was out of state. I contacted a family member in Michigan and we decided to wait till the morning. Our plan was to get him out of the facility right away and into the hospital because we were very concerned about the negligent care at this facility. WE never saw an ATTENDING PHYSICIAN at Clarkston Specialty Healthcare. The administrator told me that we could not just take him out (AMA) AGAINST MEDICAL ADVISEMENT. I was flying into Michigan on Friday to get our own ambulance to bring him to the hospital. The next morning we received a call that my father passed away.

Please please do not send your loved ones to this home. They say that there is always 2-3 aides on each Hall but that is furthest from the truth. If your lucky, on a great day there is two. Midnights you are lucky to find one. Food is almost never on time. Residents get baths if there is enough staff otherwise they go a week. Smell of the halls is horrific. I could go on and on but I hope you get the idea.

My loved one was in Clarkston. The facility was OK, but the room she was in was poor and small. The food and the general care was poor. We were very unhappy with it. I wouldn't recommend it.

PLease look into other facilities.. A family member was sent here and was neglected and by the looks of other patients so were they. Only 2 aids to assist patients and were not at all capable of doing so, food was cold and not at all acceptable for human consumption. Nurses were more concerned about telling coworkers about weekend and family issues rather than needs of the patients. Patients in wheelchairs left in hallways unattended, when concerned and wanted to speak to administration Bill was no help and also Becky ahead of nursing was absolutely no help ready to argue and not taking any concerns into heart! I would not even give this place a second thought they are there not to help. My question to them is when they are in need would they feel comfortable receiving care with the staff that they have in there now?! I would not nor should anyone else especially in the final days of life!

I would look into other facilities. My mom initially had some confusion and wasnt sure about what was going on. After hospice got on board and started caring for things, her care improved but the nurses are really rude and the aids are slow to respond. My mom waits half the day to get changed and we had to force them to shower her. The social worker there is nice but nice doesnt mean squat if your staff is neglecting my mom. Food is disgusting and money has come up missing and the staff is always borrowing her Wheelchair and Sling to get her out of bed, when she needs it, its a big ordeal to locate them again. They wanted to move her to a more attentive room but that room had no TV. ??? are they serious?

In 2007 after being in home caregivers for 5 years we decided it was time for professional healthcare services for our mother who had Alzheimers. Our initial assessment of this facility was a positive one after speaking with the Admissions Coordinator and taking a tour. However, in time we came to learn that there appeared to be a lack of professionalism with some of the nursing staff in meeting patient needs. We were appalled when we found Mom at dinner time with her glasses in her food as she was starring out the window. The food had gone cold, and judging by the look of how the food had hardened on her glasses it was clear that no one looked in on her for quite some time. When she needed assistance to walk to the rest room it would be up to a half hour before someone came her room, and it was often too late. This delay in assistance was also confirmed by Mom's roommate.
