Place is a zoo, I love some of the caregivers but they always lose the good ones because they don't care for their good employees and overwork them. When visiting my loved one med techs and caregivers are stressed and understaffed, this in turn stressed out my loved one. Food is terrible the new management doesn't care, activities are okay. Still waiting for a call back from one of the ladies in charge about a medication. It's been a week. Only reason for 2 stars on employees is because I like some of the caregivers that actually do their work

We toured Emerald Meadows, and it was very good. The staff was very good and very friendly. It was clean, it was a smaller facility, and it wasn't totally modern, but it wasn't bad. We had a meal there, they had quite a few activities, and a lot of variety.

My friend is at Emerald Meadows. It’s a small community. The staff is very kind. It’s a nice, clean place. It’s close to where I live so I can visit all the time.

If I were to move mom to the Grand Rapids area, I would probably would have put her at Emerald Meadows, but we decided to keep mom on the East side. Emerald was really nice and clean. Outside, there was the community room and the dining hall, and it was really nice. It was centered in a good spot. They have a little community area, and I think everybody enjoyed it. When you look outside the window, you see woods; the location was very nice.

I have my wife in a respite care facility right now, Emerald Meadows. She has been there less than a month, so I can’t say too much. She seems to be doing fairly well there. I have nothing bad to say about them. She tells me that the food is pretty good. She has a private room. They participate in games, bingo, and other types of games, and she is active with them. She has adjusted very well. She likes her surroundings, and she mixes well with the people that are there. They take care of her much better personally.

Emerald Meadows was a very acceptable community. I was not as impressed with the memory care unit. There were activities going on. The place didn’t smell as clean and didn’t give as good a feeling as some of the other places. The rest of the community was nice. The tour people were very helpful. I had a very good interaction with their staff and their residents. However, we felt it was more isolated, and we detected an odor and that turned us off.

Emerald Meadows was another really nice community that I enjoyed. As I toured it, there was a patient coming down the hall. The person leading me a tour stopped and talked to her and asked how she was doing and what was going on. The patient said, "Oh, I’m having a little trouble, and I was going to go down and see if the nurse was in her station.” The person I was with said, “Why don’t you just push your alert button that you’re wearing?” So, she pushed her button while we talked, and in a minute or two, the nurse was there asking what was going on.

I was very pleased with the lady who showed us around Emerald Meadows. She was very informative and very helpful. The rooms were small, but I guess that's standard for assisted living facilities. The dining room was very nice. They have a good variety of activities to interest every resident, including a TV room, puzzle room, and a library. They celebrate all of the holidays and engage all of their residents.

Emerald Meadows seemed very nice and clean but was considerably more per month and more luxurious than what my mother needed. It seemed like the menus were very good. We talked with the manager there who was very nice and very pleasant.

The entire staff that I met at Emerald Meadows really wanted to be there; they enjoyed what they were doing. My mom is in a private room in the memory care component. They have two areas -- one was more assisted living and the other was memory care. Memory care just means a locked-down facility to me. The room is beautiful, and she has beautiful views. The room is quite large at about 260 sq. ft. She has a full bathroom in her room, and they did provide some furniture and could have provided more if we wanted, but we decided to do our own shopping. They are attentive to our needs and concerns. One of my biggest concerns was my mom’s acclimation moving from one facility here in Mexico to another in Grand Rapids, and I’ve heard all kinds of rumors that once somebody has full-blown dementia or Alzheimer’s, it is difficult for them to find some comfort. However, those rumors were really axed after two days. I felt she was completely engaged in the program, which was something new for me. I haven’t eaten there, although my sister has and she said the food was good.

My Grandmother has been at Emerald Meadows of Cascade for approximately 18 months, and I highly recommend it!! My family, as well as my Grandmother herself, could not be happier with the quality of people and care there! I am very impressed with the loving, Christian enviornment that Emerald Meadows has provided, and continues to provide day and night!

Emerald Meadows appears to be a beautiful facility. Until you allow your Family member to live there. My mother was there for over two years and many medication errors occured. They are never fully staffed, sometimes there are 2 resident aides to fourty people. The Administrator Kathy is very rude. She promised us the world and all we ever had was problems. Some of the staff are wonderful and my mother loved them but since the change in management it has went down hill... Please check out other facilities. You do get what you pay for.. The food is horrible and served cold. They have an activities director but they never do activities. My mother's shower days were tuesday and Friday, and she would call every week when she wouldn't get her Tuesday shower.
