Provision Living Livonia:
My experience with Provision Living Livonia (PLL) has prompted me to write this positive recommendation. From my first contact with the facility, I felt my informational fog start to clear.
The sales director kept in contact with me from the very beginning of my search for an assisted living placement. She answered every question and concern then allowed me time to think and digest the information. I felt no pressure, only kind support.
The director not only demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of the operations of PLL, she projected compassionate understanding of the residents, and provided calm, caring guidance for me. In allowing and encouraging my friend to spend a month of respite care at PLL, she let the facility speak for itself, affirming its commitment to the gentle care of its residents.
Following the initial medical evaluation of my friend by the PLL nurse, I have had the opportunity to talk to her about relevant concerns. She has been most accommodating and informative. It gives me comfort to know someone with her qualifications and concern is on staff. Additionally, I have found that the workers I have encountered have all been friendly and helpful. Their kindness and respect toward the residents is visible and for that, I am both pleased and grateful.
The facility is new and beautifully decorated. The lobby, offering beverages, fruit and pastries, is welcoming and the dining area has the appearance of a lovely restaurant. There is a full range of menu options with the breakfasts being "made to order."
Residents are invited to participate is various activities, meet for movie days, and greet the therapy dogs that come to visit. The rooms/apartments are spacious and the private bathrooms are large enough to accommodate walkers and wheelchairs.
I strongly believe that Provision Living Livonia has been the best placement for my friend. She is being well-cared for and becoming more and more comfortable with her new home as the days go by.
Provision Living at Livonia had the highest move-in fee. They are the newest facility that I visited there in Livonia. It was very nice, very accommodating, and had a lot of amenities. It has a nice feature for memory care as well as assisted living. It has a security system that's in the room that would be able to tell when a resident got out of bed at night, like to use the bathroom or if they are up roaming or whatever. It's not so much that you're spying on them. You could actually see the physical body of the person, but you could see a shadow, so you saw movements, which is nice for people if they're getting out of bed and you need to know why because the nurse is monitoring that, and then they can kind of say, 'Well, maybe Jane Doe is getting up four times through the night to go to the bathroom because she's starting with a urinary tract infection or something.' It also, I feel, makes them accountable. If they're noticing that someone's getting up and they're disoriented, then they can get in there right away and assist the resident even though the resident wears a pendant (if they're not going to push that pendant, but they might be in need of support of some way). That is a good feature for the facility to have. It is a little more costly, but having that feature is an advantage for people that have parents that are going into memory care or assisted living when they might need extra support. My mom is visually hearing and physically impaired, so she needs a lot of assistance and would need that feature if she got up and got disoriented in a new place having to learn a new place and not being able to see. They have a $3000 move-in fee. They consider it a homeowner's association fee somewhat that people would pay if they were moving into a condo facility or something. I think it's a turnover fee for painting, carpets and things like patching walls and stuff, so it kind of makes sense. It was a nice facility. You could reserve a room or do an activity or have a meal with people, and that's always a nice thing. It's close to my home as well.
I toured Provision Living at Livonia. This is a brand-new building, so everything's brand new. It is was very nice. I like the fact that Dad will have his own room. Where he is now, he's paying a lot more to have a roommate. I was pleased with that he will have his own room.
The rooms were very nice and well-appointed. I like the fact that the cable and phone are included in the price and not an extra thing I have to worry about. The staff was very knowledgeable. Her name is Kim, and she's been helping me through the process the whole way. She has been very good.
Everything looked good, but there were just a couple spots that didn't have grass yet. I was told that that would be started by the summertime. The dining area looks great and looks like a restaurant to me. They also pointed out that the have a hair salon there and a physical therapy area. It was good.
