Sheridan’ s corporate aspiration and what they sell you on is different than what they deliver. The response rates vary every day and have ranged from on time, to 30 minutes or this week a 70 minute wait. In the meantime - our 92 year old Dad has to take care of his 90 year old wife. We have tried and tried to get Sheridan to step up to their commitments

My sister-in-law has moved in to The Sheridan at Birmingham. The care seems to be fine, and the community seems to be nice. It's like a boutique hotel with a beautiful cathedral feeling. It has a restaurant and areas in the main floor and individual apartments above. They're trying hard, but she's uncooperative. They always have movies running, a little bistro, wine tastings, trips places, and a hairdresser and a doctor. They are doing a good job. It's a lovely facility. It's nice and clean and does not smell. It doesn't look like an old folk's home.

The Sheridan at Birmingham was really nice. They were real professional. The place was beautiful. If it was in my price range, I may have considered putting our father there. The tour guide did a good job, but he was new and he could have done better. They showed me a nice-sized studio. I saw the dining room and the nurse's station, and a game room or TV room. They had a place for happy hour. The place looked clean.

The Sheridan at Birmingham is probably the best senior living community I have ever seen. Not because it's very fancy, but it's the fact that everywhere I look, things were designed to be accommodating to their clients, but did not feel like a medical facility. The rooms were as luxurious as a five-star hotel. They have a library, a gym, a spa, and a large dining room, which is very nice. There's also an area where you can go down for breakfast or read the paper, and in the evening they have cheese and wine in that same area. It was nice that there was someone at the desk right by the door, because that's a safety issue. All of the staff members were extremely pleasant. The person who accommodated me during my tour was Marcus, and I'm in touch with him every week. Their food was also excellent. I thought everything was outstanding. It's not just your typical community, and it's the total opposite of state facilities.

The Sheridan at Birmingham wasn't as sterile as some of the others, and the people I talked to didn't seem as genuinely interested. I did not like the location at all. It's in a residential area and down at the end of the street there's factories and cement places. It's a terrible area. There's not enough green space at all. If you look out the window all you see are parking lots jam-packed with cars and factories, and that's really not what we wanted. The staff was nice and very pleasant, just not as sincerely genuine as some of the people I talked with at some of the other places. It's just not for us. It didn't have that comfort level that I had at some of the other places I visited. The place is very nice and upscale though.
