My mom will be moving into The Avalon of Commerce Township. We have been there several times, and we're starting to move some of the stuff in. It looks like a beautiful community. She faces the courtyard where they have flowers and garden. There is a little pond and everything in the back. She has a beautiful view of the courtyard. She has a one bedroom with a kitchenette. She has a really nice place. What drew me into it is that they had a lot of activities, so that was really good. They have two salespeople that were very helpful and informative. It has been a very good experience. It is close to my home and my brothers. They have a mini movie theater, an in-house salon, and a couple of different dining areas. They have activity coordinators. They have a little bistro area in the library down near the front. The dining areas are beautiful. Both of them look really nice. If you didn't like the menu option they were having, they always have side things you can order, such as hamburgers and things like that. I haven't gotten to know a whole lot of staff yet, but I did meet a nurse. She seemed nice and helpful. Carly and Brian are the salespeople. They are great at keeping me informed and getting me set up. The activities person I met seemed really nice, and she was telling me about some of the activities. They are beautiful, big, one-bedroom apartments. I got it for about the same price as I did at other places that only had studios. I was very pleased with the room. They just put in brand new carpeting before moving in, and everything looks really nice and painted. There are no cracks, marks, or anything. Brian is the director, and he's very informative in assisted living in general and geriatric care. That was very comforting to me, as far as knowing that they knew how to take care of my mother. The salespeople were excellent. They followed up with me regularly and put me at peace in moving her. The facility is very nice and clean, and it looks kind of like a hotel. It is updated and fresh looking.
