Our experience with Villa Rosa Nursing Home has not been that great. There's no guidance/leadership there. Everybody's kind of doing their own thing and we've had to stay on them to make sure that they're doing the right thing as far as caring for my grandmother (although some people are trying to do the right thing). The outside of the building is nice, but the inside of the building needs a lot of work. Matter of fact, the furniture in the rooms is old and broken. They need to upgrade that facility.

I would start by saying that I am not from th area and not familiar with rehab facilities in the area. When it was time for me to leave the hospital I was given several pages of rehab facilities and told to pick three from which they would work. Villa Rosa was one, figuring it was a Catholic managed facility but oh was I wrong. I would also add that I am hard of hearing but aids don't always help. I quickly learned that most of the nursing staff were Africans, not a general problem but I have a hard time understanding their language and they seemed unwilling to respect my hearing loss. Most have had a nursing aid course but they do differ in how they provide that care. Call bells are not answered in a timely manner probably because not enough staff and I've had to wait an hour and a half or more for pain medication mainly because nurses don't respect pain and wait until they get around to your on their regular routine rounds. I am familiar with that nursing trick! Meanwhile your pain gets worse. PT is an hour or less a day and tends to be patient driven rather than therapist encouraged and no PT on weekends which is a waste of time, mine and medicare's. But VR gets their money. Surely there is a better place for you o
your loved one.

My brother has been staying at Villa Rosa Nursing and Rehabilitation for about 4 years now. He's in the nursing home level with total care. It's very clean and it caters to religion so they don't allow smoking and drinking on the grounds, which a lot of nursing homes do. For my brother, smoking and drinking got him in this situation, it caused his strokes, so it's good that this facility is not allowing it. It keeps him away from smoking.
The staff could improve, but so far, he's gotten used to them so they're pretty okay. They're excellent with the service. They have different activities, which is good too. Even though my brother can't walk and stuff, he's still really active so you got to keep him busy. He likes playing cards, playing bingo and stuff.
At one time, we had bugs in his room but after we complained, we've never seen it anymore. It's very clean now. Because of Covid, they don't go out anymore. They used to take them out to stores but they can't do that now.

Villa Rosa Nursing Home was nice. The people seemed professional. It was very clean. It seemed that they would give my uncle 24-hour attention and medical attention, if he needed it. They have some kind of policy where if he wanted to go to my daughter's baptism or something like that, he could leave 15 times in one year. They seem to be flexible on him leaving and then coming back to visit family or something like that.
They seem to be very attentive to the needs of the people who were there. They said that if he goes to the hospital again, he could be placed there for a couple of months when he comes out of the hospital; that was good to know. If he has to go the hospital for whatever reason, they said they would take him right out of the hospital to help him rehab. Then they will allow him to go back to his house when he's ready to go home. They seem to be very flexible with whatever his situation would be. They accept Medicaid, and they have someone onsite who walks through the eligibility stuff (and that was helpful).

My grandmother was in this facility in 2019 and the care giver were non-responsive to her and our family on a daily occasion. We had to complain every day and had several meetings with the administer. They took days and days to install simple bed rails, while my grandmother was at risk for falling. There were no scheduled days for bathing or washing of clothing. At times, there were no answer at the front desk to reach patients or nurses. The phone would just ring and ring. Several times I was able to just walk in with no one stopping and questioning me and not one nurse in sight. Also, the facility needs a makeover.
