Villa St. Francis did not help my mother-in-law. She left that facility with a bedsore. To me, they didn't do anything. In the first two and a half months that she was there, she lost 11 pounds, because she wasn't eating. At one point, they were going to send her back to the hospital, because she was not drinking. They would put her tray across the room from her and she couldn't stand up. When I would try to call and ask questions to find out how she was or any of those things, very seldom did we ever get a callback. She very seldom came out of her room, too. They left her in her room with the TV on and that was all she was doing. I don't like that place. I would not take my mother-in-law there again.

Yesterday, October 13, was the one year anniversary of my mother's death at this facility. She passed away from Covid due to lack of timely care and leadership incompetence. The Staff could not even keep her safe for a month after being admitted for long term care on September 18. Staff disregarded safety protocols and restrictions for visitors were not followed.
I implore others NOT to place their loved ones here. CEO, COO and nursing management are callous and are only interested in bottom line.

The staff at Villa St. Francis is very nice and very helpful. The nurses put dad's care first. We were having financial problems, but they helped us to fill out Medicaid for him and everything. So, they went above and beyond their skills, trying to give us resources and help in trying to get my father's needs met. They call us and give us a weekly update or to tell us if something new has developed with my dad. The facility is very clean. They have exercise classes, music therapy, bingo games, sports TV, and church services (if he's interested in it).

Our father was at this facility in 2006 when he passed. The rooms were spacious back then. We placed our mother here on Sept. 18th, 2021after she said it was time to go to a nursing home. We trusted Villa St. Francis with our beautiful mother. The cost of her "Box" was 7650.00 for one month. She had no room for her belongings, etc. The COO said that is the minimal size allowed. Her roommate's space was bigger and had "junk" spread out everywhere. Her roommate had 5 visitors, 2 which were unmasked and began cough a few days later. We told them that her cough sounded bad, yet all they did was take temperatures. A few days later our mother started coughing and once again they just took temperatures. No testing for covid. They said they would give her cough syrup???? Not long after, mom came down with fever and they finally tested her after insistence from us. Test came back positive. Unfortunately, our beautiful mother passed from Covid from their lack of following covid protocols. She was in Villa St. Francis less than 3,5 weeks. The CEO has contacted us and said they never give refunds which we had ask for. That was his biggest concern. He told me that the staff took wonderful care of our mother which is not the truth. She was vaccinated and was waiting on booster which we continued to ask them about. They then said she died of sepsis on death certificate, which has been amended to the truth. Mom died of air hunger as they tried to give her a crushed up hydrocodone in pudding for pain???? No morphine, etc for her pain, yet they have it on sight because they are also a hospice facility, The NPR told us she only works during the week so I guess if you die on the weekend you are out of luck. I could go on and on, but please do your research before placing a loved one in a nursing home. Mom was a strong woman of faith and member of POP parish for over 45 years and yet was let down by the Catholic facility.

This place is awful, I do not recommend putting any loved ones here. They neglect them and allow pressure ulcers to develop. Ridiculous. Having a history as a CNA and currently in PA school, I am not at all impressed with the care this facility has given my grandmother. The rooms are also very tiny so there is not much room to put anything up in the rooms. This is supposed to be a facility associated with the Catholic church, but that is hard for me to believe based on how they treat their residents.

We have had both mama and daddy here (mama passed in August of 16). The staff at Villa is more a loving, caring family. We have had nothing but excellent care for both of my parents. Even though we are not Catholic, we have been welcomed with open arms. Dad even attends daily mass. I would not hesitate to recommend Villa St. Francis to anyone.

My husband and I visited the facility on Sunday, January 8th, 2017. We were very impressed...clean, staff was very friendly and answered our questions. If they didn't have the answers, they referred us to Lisa. Mike was an excellent tour guide. We are hoping to move my parents from Cedar Rapids, IA to Villa St. Francis, once there are openings as family members live in the K.C. area.

Villa St. Francis is nice and clean. I toured it, and they seem to be doing a good job. The majority of people are Catholic.

So far, our experience with Villa St Francis has not been very good. Mom has problems with swallowing, and they don't provide her with the proper things she needs to not choke. When we went to visit with the nurses and social services person, they didn't even know half of mom's medical problems. She was diabetic for two months, and they didn't know she was blind in her left eye. They were forcing her to take pills even though she has problems swallowing them. As for the place itself, it seems to be OK. They have great amenities and activities, which is very good because they are keeping her busy. They have a hairdresser and volunteers that come and do her nails. Mom is in a private room with her own bathroom.

Villa St. Francis is a very good place. I felt that they are really caring and provided good care. Their residents are very happy.

Unbelievable to me what transitions can take place in just a few years time. My sister was a resident 4 yrs. ago and though the facility may have been outdated it was clean and for the most part well kept with good care from the staff. I revisited last week as my sister in law is in need of a higher level of care than can be provided by her husband. What a disappointment. Staff was anything but warm once you got past the reception area, maintenance staff was cussing as they were walking down the hall, and looked as if they were working in a coal mine rather than a nursing facility. Nursing staff throughout were negative and complaining about staffing, administration, hours, work load etc. etc. the only smiles and welcoming staff we observed were the ones trying to get us to come to their facility. Overall not a happy environment. We don't need or even look for extravagant living, but insist on a loving caring environment. From our experience their I didn't see it or feel it from administrator, maintenance staff, or nursing. Wow. It's unfortunate the place has changed so drastically. We most certainly will be looking at other options.

I have been in many local nursing homes in the area, some good some not so good. Some with outstanding care and some lacking. Villa has lost its lustre with me. Though recently remodeled, the chapel is beautiful, the majority of the facility remains old and cold. Facility reaks of mold throughout. I personally saw the maintenance staff working on an ac unit and the entire wall was covered with mold. Though they did tear out some drywall and replace it, I am certain the mold remains. Also the compassion has lost its way. For years I viewed the facility and staff as some of the most compassionate around. Now with new staff, new management, new administration it reminds me more of an industrial atmosphere instead of a loving caring one. Staff are all of a sudden less apt to stop and talk and the few I have spoken with are very unhappy with moves the new administration has made. I could not recommend this nursing home to anyone in its present state. I don't know if anyone reads these, but please bring back the old Villa where smiles were abound the atmosphere was one of love and caring, not one of just trying to get through the day!. Sad to see what changes can do to what was a fantastic facility! Chuck R Son in law of a current and past resident.

I thought the staff was very friendly and gracious for the most part. I did feel like a few people weren't as warm or attentive as I would hope them to be while caring for a family member of mine. I felt like the facility was a bit old and run-down. The atmosphere wasn't very vibrant. Overall I think the facility was adequate but I think if given the chance through affordability, I would opt to find a facility that felt less like a nursing home and more like an assisted living residence. I did like the location of the facility and I think the people that run it are good people, I just think it is one of those facilities that is kept and run as nicely as possible but is a bit outdated. It is probably my own personal bias of thinking that a very bright, warm, cheery atmosphere would be more beneficial than anything otherwise.
