About This Community

At Terra Vista, we understand that caring for someone with Alzheimer’s or other dementia is a careful balancing act. It’s important to alleviate the stress that comes when a family member with Alzheimer’s encounters closed doors or blocked pathways but it’s also crucial to keep him or her safe and secure within the environment.

  • Our Dementia-Capable Environment balances both needs through a barrier-free design that gives your loved one the freedom to stroll and explore and achieve an optimum level of functional independence while remaining safe.
  • Our multisensory way-finding markers located throughout our campus utilize theme, color and texture allowing residents to more easily identify where they are, explore for longer periods of time and through later stages of Alzheimer’s.
  • Our InnerWalk™ — the largest multisensory purpose-driven interior courtyard in the region – is designed to educate and delight residents and family members alike with its technology-infused design that offers family education and fun and provides a feeling of inclusion while stimulating the senses.

Imagine a safe and secure community where every single staff member is trained in the latest techniques and protocols for caring for residents with Alzheimer’s. Where instead of locked doors, there are stress-reducing barrier-free paths and the region’s most expansive sensory garden focusing on relaxation, rejuvenation and social engagement.

Imagine being able to reach out and connect with your family member and staff at a moment’s notice, and easily coming together to share news and good times. And imagine a knowledgeable and compassionate leadership team that cares so much about supporting residents with Alzheimer’s and their families that it advocates toward research for a cure on the federal and state levels.

If you can imagine all this, you’re well on your way to discovering Terra Vista. Our community lives up to its definition: “Helping one continue to live his or her best possible life while fostering a feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests and goals.” We look forward to proving to you that we’re changing the view on Alzheimer’s care.

My mom was there for little over a year and the quality of care, minimum activities, upkeep and food was declining. Short staffed and pre cooked food lead to a decision to move her to a nicer facility.

My husband has been a resident for only one week. Someone from the staff is in constant contact to inform me of his progress. There is a daily activities calendar to keep him busy The staff is courteous helpful and friendly.

My Mom lived there for 21 months and it was a wonderful experience. The caregivers took a special interest in my mother’s enjoyments and would engage with her on a daily basis. I got to know them by name and they sent numerous photos and videos of the activities. They have an amazing staff and really care about the residents.

My wife is in Terra Vista of Oakbrook Terrace. I'm very pleased with them. The staff is excellent. The whole facility is very nice. The building was built with memory care as the prime design for the building. The four dining areas are very nice, they all overlook an interior court, and they're roomy, so it's not a crowded situation.

My mother-in-law moved into Terra Vista of Oakbrook Terrace, and so far, it has been great. The staff is warm, friendly, engaging, and caring. The accommodations are really nice. It's set up in a square, and in the center of the square is a courtyard. Everything set up is based on memory care. The courtyard has things to engage them, like a walking trail, and they do activities out there; it's really a beautiful place. They do lots of art, music, and dancing. She's always busy. They have fish tanks and birds, and it's beautiful. It's not inexpensive, but it's the least expensive of everything we looked at, and it's the highest value in terms of what they offer.

From my observations, Terra Vista genuinely goes above and beyond to provide exceptional care. From the front desk to housekeeping, everyone is friendly and caring. It appears that residents feel like they are at home.

I liked Terra Vista of Oakbrook Terrace, but the distance was too far for me to go. The person during the tour was very insightful. She was very good, she knew everything about it, and she seemed very caring. I saw some painting and crafting going on. It was very nice and clean. One of the things I didn't like is they didn't have a private shower in the bathroom.

Terra vista has been an amazing facility for a personal friend. I have seen and visited many other facilities with the family to find the perfect fit for our loved one. TERRA VISTA by far superseded our standards. Every employee from the owners, upper management, caregivers/CNA’s, professional chefs, housekeeping and maintenance are involved with residents and show compassion and all work as a pteam!!! It specializes with Alzhiemers and everyone is knowledgeable. I would say if your looking for someplace for a loved one...I wouldn’t chose anywhere else!!!!

My mom is in Terra Vista. They are very caring, always notify us if they have a question, and tell me her daily progress. It is a great place. The food is good. They have three meals a day. The staff is wonderful and are always there helping. They are very into their work. She is in a good-sized room. The building is made for people with dementia. They have higher ceilings and lights that go on slowly.
