Beautiful Location! Located on picturesque Grand Avenue in Des Moines, 3801 Grand is in one of the most desirable neighborhoods in the city. The North and South of Grand neighborhoods house some of the city’s most elegant, stately homes. Ingersoll Avenue, just a block away, is the city’s epicenter for revitalization efforts and development of a small business that include restaurants, boutiques, and unique multi-use buildings. Our 3801 Grand community is only 5 minutes from downtown entertainment venues and major medical centers.

Dining Experience

In the kitchens of 3801 Grand it is our philosophy to offer fresh, homemade food every day. Just as you would have in your own kitchen, the simplest of foods are prepared with great care. You can find staff peeling potatoes for homemade mashed potatoes, made with real cream and butter. Signature dishes such as the seared lamb chops or roasted Cornish game hen are resident favorites, appearing on the special menus regularly. Don’t feel like having a rich, heavy dessert? No worries, a variety of fresh fruit is available year-round for residents' enjoyment here in our community.

Join us for an a la carte breakfast with daily specials; buttermilk pancakes and waffles, biscuits and gravy, French toast, pastries, and eggs any way you want. At the noon and evening meals, we offer two specials or order from our always available menu. Our homemade soups are offered daily with fresh, quality ingredients. Our residents always have a say in what items they like to see on the menus, feedback is always welcome.

We've decided to keep my mom at 3801 Grand. Our experience has been wonderful. They have a very caring and very attentive staff. They check in on her frequently to make sure everything is OK. If she actually misses a meal, the cook calls my mom and asks if she's OK. It's good to know that people are looking after her. Mom's room is wonderful. They have a pretty good variety on their menu. The dining area is beautiful and the decorations are beautiful. Sometimes, there's someone playing the piano or something during dinner. The facility has a very friendly atmosphere. There's staff going around doing their duties. They're always very friendly, asking if you need help with anything. They have card games, card clubs, book clubs, crafts, bed baseball, trips to shopping, painting classes, and chair exercise classes. They have a little library and a workout room. They have people come in and do entertainment and magic shows. It's a great place to put your loved ones in knowing that they would get the care that they need.

My relative stayed at 3801 Grand several times in Assisted Living respite care. My relative met with the nursing staff before their stay to help anticipate and meet their needs. Even though he was not a permanent resident, he was always welcomed by residents and staff alike on his stays. Staff were friendly and attentive to his needs —a plus versus some of the very large facilities in the area that lack a cozy, small feel. 3801 has a lovely, updated, open lobby and dining area. My relative’s room was comfortable, clean, large windows with easy accessibility to kitchenette and bath. Activities always going on whether it was entertainment or physical fitness and well-attended. 3801 Grand met my relative’s needs for a safe, friendly, quiet, secure stay.

I can’t say enough positive things about 3801 Grand. The facility is comfortable and pretty. It isn’t ostentatious, but it has a homey and friendly feel. The staff is incredible. They are kind, caring, supportive, respectful, & experienced. They have helped ME help my aunt cope and live with dementia. This has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever dealt with & I feel so lucky to have walked in the door to be greeted with a big smile by Vicki. They have listened to me vent my frustrations with a kind ear & words of assurances that helped push me forward when I felt defeated by this horrible disease. The community, especially the Memory Care where my aunt lives, feels like family now. My aunt is physically healthier than she has been in a long time because of the care she receives at 3801. She has her belongings around her. She has her cat. She is happy to not have to do laundry or cook or clean her apartment. She loves the food. There are activities to stay engaged & always people around to just chat if a chat is needed. When my aunt has bad times during the day, the staff works with her to engage her in an activity, support her with comforting words, or just sit with her until she feels better. Finally, the nursing staff makes me feel secure with her medical needs as well & they always take the time to listen to any concerns I may have. Probably best of all for me is everyone has a good sense of humor. The smiles of happy staff brighten gloomy days. Thank you 3801!

From the first phone call to the first month at 3801 Grand We had nothing but a great experience. Everyone there was helpful throughout the process. They gave me the name of someone to help us get $$ from the VA and he is great too. I really like that they don't have add on services and the facility was much nicer than some of the other places we looked at. Mom is very happy at 3801..if I'd of known it was going to be this smooth I would have approached the idea sooner-by the way the helped me with that too.
