Independence Village of Ankeny was wonderful. They were higher priced, but the rooms were nice. The facility was very clean. The staff was very friendly. They were more than helpful in answering my questions. They had a movie room, a game room, an activities room, and different things that they do daily. It was beautiful.

Dad has been a resident for 9 years. Overall it has been a good experience for him. The staff are kind and helpful. He can choose to participate in activities or not, without pressure. I am also welcome, which is good, because I come often.

My dad has been living at I.V. of Ankeny for just over a year after living independently. It took him 2-3 months to feel settled into his new apartment, and now he says, “I love living here.” He has made many friends with a group of residents. He also loves interacting with the staff. My dad’s favorite activities are the almost daily exercise classes, field trips, the Friday afternoon social hour, and the informational presentations (such as current events, travel destinations, and various cultures). One of the organized exercises he enjoys is walking club. There is a paved path around the outside of the building where they don’t need to cross any streets. He also takes this path for a walk by himself or with a friend. The staff is very kind and caring. They do a wonderful job of ordering his medications monthly from the pharmacy, and giving him his medications three times a day. His single bedroom apartment is just the right size for him. It comfortably fits a full-sized couch, a recliner, end tables and a coffee table. His kitchenette has a small kitchen table with a full-sized fridge and sink.

Two BR unit is well planned with one bathroom. Nice spacious master closet. Meals were with good food. Staff is very friendly. Housekeeping should have changed the sheets more often. Laundry not done as often as we wanted. They checked on Mom frequently. Residents were friendly. Good activities options. Mom needs more help and to be closer to family is why we moved.

It has been a pleasure working with Independence Village in Ankeny, especially Justin and Carrie. They went above and beyond to help find solutions for care in order to allow Mom and Dad to continue to live together. Mom and Dad really enjoy the facility especially the food and the aides.

The staff has made the transition to assisted living easier than anticipated. They are very caring and take the time to get to know residents’ names, interests, and personal needs. They are friendly and patient and help make everyone’s stay a positive one. There are a variety of on-site activities daily, as well as off-site activities periodically. Residents have choices with their daily meals and the food is good! The town center is a great place for gathering and socializing.

We had an in-person tour of Independence Village of Ankeny. The location was close by. The staff who showed us and talked with us was awesome. She stayed in contact with me and checked on how things were going. She was just so helpful. The place was beautiful, clean, decorated nicely, and very homey. It was very welcoming. When you walk in, there's like an atrium. They have a beauty shop. The people were all very friendly.

Independence Village of Ankeny was nice. It's a little bit older and a little bit more like a nursing home, but there wasn't anything that I would be concerned about. The staff seemed very kind and the gentleman that I worked with was very informative. He had lots of good information and he did a good job. They just had a party the night before our visit. They had everything decorated. They also had a nice little entranceway. The layout was more like a little town center where they had a place where they could get their haircut and a library. It was very homey.

Absolute. hands down best of the 3 local Assisted Living facilities I have been. Staff really cares and are backed up with the logistical and operational support to create to turn their Mission Statement a reality. They have created a family environment.

We are very happy with the Independence Village of Ankeny so far. The care is good, the food is good and the apartments are very nice. They have cooking classes and they serve their food to the residents on the weekends, in their rooms. They have game time, outdoor seating, and a very nice patio area.

Visited the facility and very impressed. Staff were all helpful and you could tell love their jobs. Ate lunch during tour and was very good. When parents get to the point of needing this, will definitely move forward.

We visited Independence Village. It's a nice facility with good people that were pleasant to talk to. They answered all of our questions. It was a very positive experience. They had a recreational game room, a theater, hair salon, a small general store, and a workout area.

It is really fancy. It has a lot to offer the residents. They have an exercise area (which is rather nice), they have a place to go and have your hair done for both men and women, and they have a coffee bar. They have a lot of amenities. The rooms are all a pretty good size. The staff members are very friendly. We emailed back and forth and they were very helpful. Even though we didn't decide to go with them, even if it would not benefit them financially, their administrative staff is still offering to help with any questions I have. The staff members are very kind and helpful.

We chose it for my mother-in-law. We're in the process of getting her ready to move right now. I like that their memory care residents get the same activities as their assisted living residents. I like the layout. They check on the residents every half hour 24 hours a day. They make sure they look at each one. They have several activity rooms, including one that has some modified gym equipment. They have strengthening activities that the residents can do in their wheelchairs if they need to and group activities or classes. It doesn't have the feeling of a hospital. The memory care unit has wide, open spaces, and instead of having the rooms in a hallway, they're kind of around a big open area. It's very nice and relatively new. They have rooms that you can reserve that have different activities like pinball and different games. You can have a family get-together without having to take your loved one out somewhere. They have a beauty salon right on-site. They have a medical team that works with them there. The staff seemed to be very caring and concerned about making sure that everybody is being treated with dignity and respect. It seemed a little bit homier than other places, and I liked the open space and the layout of the room.

We went to visit and it was very nice, pretty new; everything was modern. They have a little theater where they watch movies several times a week and people can get popcorn. The dining area was very nice, and it looked like they offered a lot of choices. The room was small but not bad. They also have a memory care unit, which I thought it was good. It was 10 minutes from my house, and everything was very nice.

VERY pleased with this new facility. Clean - excellent fresh smell. Classy set up, like living in a country club. BEST of all, ALL staff is friendly, committed to providing the best service, and sincerely enjoy the residents. Appreciate that they also embrace involvement, feedback and collaboration with families.
