We thought my aunt would stay in Dalton Place Senior Living, but it would cost too much. I don't think they're doing any activities now because of COVID, but they have everything there that she would need. The one staff person that I met was good. She took a lot of time with us and gave us good information. The facility was very nice and clean.
Dalton Place was really nice, and it seems like they had a lot for my dad to do. The apartment rooms were kept up and looked like they were clean. We all agree that it was a nice place.
We only spoke to one lady. I think she was in marketing. She was really nice and gave us a lot of information and a lot of pamphlets to read about the fees and other things. The facility itself was really nice and the people that live there looked like they were well-groomed. We didn't see any that were unhappy at all. I like the location. That area is close to doctors' offices, close to the hospital, and close to the high school. In the evenings you can hear the band playing. They do the same things they used to do. It's a really nice area. The staff we interacted with knew what she was doing.
My mom moved into Dalton Place. She says they treat her like a queen, and I honestly have no doubt about it because you can tell just how happy she really is. She is well taken care of, she has the freedom to go out and do activities and games, and they take her to the doctors when necessary if I can't. She is thriving over there. The staff has been very attentive to her. They call me by name every time I go in there and they're always eager to talk, and just make you feel welcome.
My mom loves the food. She said it is good, healthy, and fresh food. If, for some reason, she doesn't want to walk down to the dining room, they would bring her lunch or dinner. They made her bed today after I got there. They do the laundry. I cannot say anything bad about it. Everyone on the staff, even with their masks on, you can tell they're smiling. They are even working doing repair work today. They keep the place up, and the inside is very well-maintained. The maintenance person is very nice. They really keep the place clean, and it is just very friendly and accommodating. I have been in several of them, and this one is the best. They have been very attentive to her, but not to the point where she feels smothered by them. They are very good.
My mom has participated in a couple of bingo games and painting classes. Every time I go in there, they're doing something. They have bible study every evening, they have gospel songs a lot, and they have bingo activities. They really have a lot of activities going on. Value for money is awesome. She knows she is safe there. She doesn't have to worry if she will have somebody to come stay with her, so she is not alone, because she is afraid she'll fall. It has just been great for her.
Our experiences with Dalton Place so far has all been very good. My dad is in the memory care unit there, and the staff back there is awesome and all the nurses are great. He has a nice room, a walk-in shower, and a toilet. They also have activities they do with him during the day, and the place itself is very clean. He is on a pureed diet, but everybody else says the food is really good.
Outside, Dalton Place looked fine. The dining area was very nice. The staff I met was friendly. However, I went to the back by myself and that's when I got a bad impression. The place smelled bad. I had been in the medical field, and I can see that they were short-handed. I saw patients locked in their rooms.
Everyone that I talked to at Dalton Place was very professional, caring, and tried to accommodate what I was looking for. The place was very clean, and all the residents looked like they were well cared for and happy. It was a beautiful place, and I was so impressed with it. They had a wonderful dining room, and they had 2 separate areas -- one for the people with memory problems and one for people who required less care. They had a beauty shop where somebody came and did haircuts, and the lady I talked to there was wonderful. They made me feel like family. It was a caring, nurturing, and encouraging environment.
