I went to The Arbors of Gulf Breeze, and I was unhappy with some of their rules. Right now, I'm on the borderline of either independent or assisted living. One reason I was considering the assisted living was at times I get dizzy, and I have propensity to fall and can't get up. I asked, if I was in independent living and I had a fall where I couldn't get up, is there someone I could call? Is there someone on staff to help me get up, and their answer was no. In independent living, staff can't go in your room. You would have to call 911. I said, "You mean I can't even call a CNA just to get me on my feet?" "No sir, you can't." So, I just crossed The Arbors off my list right then. I toured both independent and assisted living. Assisted living was nice, and I liked it. Some rooms were nice, but some rooms had a very ugly view. All you can see out your window is the roof of another building. I had trouble getting them to give me even an idea of what the assisted living add-ons would cost (like laundry and medications). They said they would have to coordinate with my doctor to come up with a number for that. I can't even get an idea of how much it would cost. Without that information, I can't make an informed decision. That day they were having a 4th of July cookout, so I had a hotdog. It was good.
