I looked at independent living at Brookdale Altamonte Springs, but they have assisted living there, too. The prices were pretty good on the rent and they didn't have any upfront fee. The rooms were smaller though and not as nice as the other place. They're in the process of making it so that you couldn't cook a meal in your kitchen except with a microwave, and I don't like that. I want to be able to cook if I feel like it. The closets are pretty small and they don't have any storage facilities. I felt that the kitchen cupboards are so small that I'd end up having to put some pots and pans in the closet, and then the closet off the kitchen is pretty small, so then I wouldn't have room for any clothes in that closet. The grounds were OK. The dining room was big. The view of the lake is kind of shielded by trees, but there is a lake there. They have activities. The staff members were friendly, and they're interacting with the residents.

I toured Brookdale Altamonte Springs. It was a great experience. The people were very welcoming. The community seemed very engaged. If situations were different, I definitely would consider that for my grandparents. It seemed like a good place. The rooms were very up-to-date, modern, had lots of sunlight, and were very clean. The staff was super well-versed, welcoming, very personable, and very nice. We were able to see the garden and some of the recreational areas, but we did not observe any activities.

Our tour of Brookdale Altamonte Springs was more abbreviated. It was a very nice place. I didn’t speak to any of the staff, but they seemed pleasant as they were passing. They had a pool, and the dining area looked very attractive. A year ago or so, they had everything repainted and done, and the community looked very nice.

This facility was extremely clean and welcoming. The staff members were always available to take care of my grandmother's needs. Everyone there seemed to be enjoying their stay and it seemed as though there was plenty of things for them to do.
