We were pleased with Shelton Manor Independent and Assisted Living. No complaints, so far. My mom is in their assisted living. It's very clean, with friendly people and a lot of activities. It's brand-new. It's only been open about a year so it's very well-kept. She's very well-pleased with the food. They have a good menu. I know they have bingo, church services, and Bible studies. They have a washer and dryer room. They've got a doctor that will come in twice a week with a nurse on staff. They administer meds and have physical therapy if she needs it. It's one of the lower-cost places of the ones that we checked and looked into.

My mom was in Shelton Manor. They bent over backwards to try and get her anything, like what she would like to eat. They were just a wonderful staff, and it's a beautiful facility. One thing that I liked about that facility that I had not seen at any other, they had a very large outdoor area, a landscaped backyard, with roses, walkways, huge oak trees, and she loves to get out and walk, and that was perfect for her. Her window from her bedroom looked down on it, so I don't know why she wanted to leave. It was very nice, it was brand new, and the food was good. They had projects, recreational type things, they did a lot with them, and I know my mom enjoyed doing them, the paintings, crafts type stuff, I think she had a lot of things that she really enjoyed there. It was very reasonably priced.

My mother moved into Shelton Manor. I like it, there are good chrisitian folks are in charge of the place, and they very purposely take time with the residents to get to know them so they're not just a number or a face. They have good space inside the building for walking about, my mom loves it, and it also has a spacious backyard that's nicely landscaped with a country sidewalk in it for walking about and enjoying the outdoors. They offer three meals a day plus two snacks. The staff is very cheering, and their aim is to behave themselves in such a way that they make the residents feel that this is your home and they're there to serve you and your needs. They have movies, books, a library, audio books, the activities director is also a singer and has singalongs sometimes, arts and crafts, needlework, pottery stuff, painting, facebook pictures of residents that they paint, and they're also making cheerful cards to send out to other communities so they can be a source of cheer to other people. The price is a bit lower than other facilities, but they have an extra charge for laundry and giving medications.
