I went to visit my mom's friend in Saratoga Retirement Community. She was there for rehab. It was absolutely outstanding. I would give it a 10. My mom going in said, I would go there. My mom felt that it was beautiful. What stood out were the grounds, the inside, and the cafeteria or their dining area; it was beautiful. They had an atrium with birds. It was definitely upper class; there's no doubt about it. I saw the food that was served to the patients. It was excellent. According to her, it tasted good. Everything was fresh. There were fresh vegetables. The meat was good; the chicken was good. She really liked it. The staff was courteous, professional, seemed to be very responsible, and attended to her when needed.

We went to Saratoga Retirement Community. We walked the grounds. It was pricy, but nice. We all wore masks. The staff was very nice. We did the grounds and the inside. It was nice inside, but older and matronly in terms of the art. It was clean. They weren't expecting me, so it was a shuffle left and right, north, south, east, west to find somebody to give me a tour, but it was handled very well. They had a swimming pool, a beauty shop, and woodworking shop.

Saratoga Retirement Community was located in a wooded area. There were no houses or anything nearby. It's like an open clearing and you can see the mountain. It was just above and beyond anything else you can find anywhere. The residents there were the ones we'd like to associate with. The food was good and they went out of their way to make a nice lunch for us. Some apartments were good and were a good size. We looked at a 2-bedroom apartment and it had the living room right in the middle, one bedroom on the right, and one bedroom on the left. There's a great deal of privacy. They have a swimming pool, garages, and a workshop in one of the garages. They have beautiful artwork, a beautiful dining area, and you can eat any time you want.

Saratoga Retirement Community is very nice and I'm sure I'll be very happy here. I moved in last week. The food is fabulous. My room is 1100 square feet with shutters in it, and I have a Murphy bed which folds out of the wall. They have all kinds of exercise classes, tai chi, balancing classes, and yoga. They have a walking group, a swimming pool, and Bocce ball.

Here in Saratoga Retirement, they don't have the higher level of assisted living. The memory unit is smaller than the other places. They don't have as many rooms, but the rooms are actually a little bit larger than the ones in the other facility. They are the standard room without a seating area, sink, or refrigerator. The general grounds are beautiful. If you are there for independent living or lower level assisted living, that would be great. The memory care unit is very nice, and the dining room area is very nice as well. But the outdoor secure area is really small. The staff looked like they are knowledgeable. It looks like they have a good staff to patient ratio.

I visited Saratoga Retirement Community. It was smaller, so it had a better feel to it. They did not have cottage availability, and it had a waiting list, which made it difficult. Because of continuous care, they can decide that you are no longer independent and that you have to go to assisted-living. I don’t want someone making that decision for me. I was not impressed with the nursing home or the assisted living facilities. I wouldn't want to live there. I had one meal there. I ate with people who had been asked to be our hosts. They were nice enough, but in the whole dining room, there was one other couple. I don't know where all the people were; nobody was eating. I was concerned that the residents were not active and participating in the activities, that they were just staying in their little rooms. They had exercise classes, bingo, and card games. They had a pool. They have a big buy-in. You'd pay half a million dollars, and if you don't like the place, that money is gone, and then they charge $6,000, $7,000 a month to stay there.

We went to see Saratoga Retirement Community, and we thought it was delightful. I was very much impressed with it. We would absolutely consider it when the time comes. It's beautifully run. The apartments are beautiful. They have a terrific gym and a beautiful pool and lots and lots of activities.
