Brookdale Riverwalk is a secure community, and I like that. It was fresh, there wasn't a hospital smell or anything like that in their assisted living area. The rooms were nice and big, even the studios. The price is a little steep, but I'm trying to work with the VA to see if I can get some assistance. The conversation I had with Corey, was very great; she's a great salesperson. I am a person of color, so I was looking to see if they had any people in the assisted living of color, and they did. So, that was a win-win for me

Brookdale Riverwalk was a much larger facility, and their two-bedroom cottages were much nicer than the other place because they had central heating and air conditioning and that's what my home has and that's what I'm accustomed to. Those were pretty nice. They were just quite a ways away from the main building and the main building is where you would go for entertainment and dining. They have a pool there right next door to it, too. You could walk, but most people would probably drive from their cottage up to the main building for dining and entertainment. They had a gym, a library, and a coffee room where you could go in the morning and get a cup of coffee without actually dining there. They had a big dining room and a mail room in the main building. The staff members during the tour were very good. They knew what they were talking about. The one drawback is they cost a little bit more than the other place. It's structured for independent, assisted, nursing, and memory care, so they've got everything you would ever need. You might have to move to a different facility on their property if that's required and they will assist in making that happen. They don't kick you to the curb. I ate there and their food was pretty good. Their main building was very nice.

I had an in-person tour of Brookdale Riverwalk last year. I had a friend staying there. I will say that Brookdale is the number one facility in Bakersfield, and honestly, it's a five-star all the way. They treat you well there. The place is beautiful inside. If I had to pick a place in Bakersfield to put my sister, that would be the place, but it's out of our budget range, and it's very expensive. It's a very, very nice, beautiful facility. It's in a very good neighborhood. The food is fantastic. I've eaten there; it's a five-star. Everybody there was just super nice. It's the best facility. I would go here if I could afford for me to stay here. They have a beauty salon, and they provide transportation, but I don't know what the cost is. They have an excellent menu for the meals. You pick your meals over there. It's a nice place. I have nothing bad to say about this place.

I believe the tour we had with Brookdale Riverwalk was successful, and it was very insightful. The facility to me was a friendly facility, and I felt like the atmosphere was good for seniors. They had many activities and the rooms were nice. I was very excited that they offered the laundry service. That's the only facility that offered the full laundry service, not just linens. So, that was nice. When I was there, they had happy hour, and they were serving, and they had live music, and everyone that I spoke with just seemed happy. And it was just a very, very nice tour, and the price was right. They had a variety of apartments. The one-bedroom apartment was spacious and the bathrooms were gorgeous, just what a person would need for anything. All the bathrooms were the same. They were all nice, everything was clean. I always smell to make sure everything is OK and everything smelled good. My mother loves to read books, so they had a library for her to read, and they gave me a calendar with all of the events that they have, and they take tours and little trips out, and church was a big deal for her. They have a church service, and then she can also be taken to her own church on Sundays. It looked like a hotel, it was beautiful. It was three stories. It was very nice.

My mother stayed at Brookdale Riverwalk's assisted living before moving into its independent living facility. It was nice, clean, and very kept up. The rooms were nice and clean. They had volleyball, bingo nights, a salon right down the street, and her apartment was really close to the trash can. They had pool exercises and there were activities going on each day. The staff was always very nice, polite, and courteous, but she has told me otherwise. The food we had there was bland. They had a room where they play cards and draw things, and they had a movie room downstairs.

Brookdale Riverwalk was extremely nice and clean and they've got friendly staff. The activities were good and they had an activities director and a calendar of activities every day. The residents have a pendant or a bracelet that they push to call a staff member, so no matter where they are in the facility, whether they fall down or if they need help, they can get help. They've got a gym and a salon, too.

I was impressed with everything about Brookdale Riverwalk ... except for the cost. The overall feel was very good and they have everything that you might need. They have villas, apartments, a very nice central location, and Alzheimer's care as well as dementia care. The facilities were separated but within a compound type of area. It's very clean and very nice. We went through everything. They introduced me to the people that would help guide the yoga classes, library readings, walks, and that sort of thing.

Brookdale Riverwalk had beautiful grounds and is very nice, but the rooms were awfully small. They have refrigerators, but they're so tiny. They have a nice big room for games.

Brookdale Riverwalk was architecturally nice, and the employees were nice. Aesthetically, it was pretty. We toured the senior living as well as the care facility. The gym I thought could have more gym equipment. The rooms seemed very nice.

The staff was pretty good, helpful and friendly. We ate there and didn’t think the meal in the assisted living was very good. We were really leaning that way to take my mom there, but it was just too expensive for us. The people were good.

The rooms were really big. They were well staffed. They were very clean. The meals looked very nice. It was a cushier scenario, and the price was higher than all the others in the area. They had a wonderful activity program. They had trips for the ones who could go out. They had activities going on at different times every day. The lunch that I had when I went to a nursing conference there was very good. I would give them a 5 provided you could afford it.

It is a pleasant facility. They have double rooms as well as triple rooms. I really don’t know exactly with regards to their activities, but I think they play bingo. The staff were very pleasant and really nice. We had a meal there and it was good. They had a nice variety to choose from.

I've been to this community visiting someone down there. It was the cheapest one I saw. I have the money to get in there, but they won't take me. They had nice rooms. They have nice equipment. They had all sorts of different games, and they have some people come in and put on music and sing. They have a living room and kitchen combination, and they have a separate bedroom and a big bathroom. I ate dinner several times; it was very good. It was a real nice dining room. It could be like a hotel.

The rooms were of adequate size. They have options for studios versus one-bedroom apartments. I saw some people around, and they seemed OK. The dining facility is cafeteria style, and they have two or three different choices. They have a fairly active calendar. They took residents on tours, they’ve got game nights, and music comes in sometimes.

The staff seemed very nice. The lady that took us around was very professional and very nice. The facility looked clean and well taken care of. The rooms looked good and I was very impressed with it. They do have activities and every time we went to visit my dad when he was there two years ago, there was something going on or something planned.

It was very nice, but I couldn't afford it. It was like the Four Seasons. The staff was very nice. They do have wonderful social activities for their residents.
