I picked Addison Place at Glastonbury for my brother because their prices are all-inclusive. They don't have a transitional program, but they have programs that are therapy based for cognitive therapy, which is something my brother needs. Their room sizes are very good and very decent. The knowledge of the director that I spoke to is phenomenal, and you don't see that everywhere. I thought they were very good. It was all-inclusive with their price. They don't upcharge for any other fees like they know that my brother is a diabetic and they know that he needs medication. Their amenities are the same as with the other place. The only thing that I felt was a negative to them was the size of their dining. It is very, very small. They only have 18 rooms, so they only have 18 clients, so it's a very small area. Their rooms are very spread out, too. They go down two different hallways, but the area that is in the center of those is the dining area/social area, and it is very cavernous and very small. They have benches and seats and places for people to sit, but those are just sitting areas. They're not areas where they do cognitive training or anything on the clients.

My uncle was at Addison Place at Glastonbury. I would not recommend it to anybody. He went from walking in September and now he's stuck in a wheelchair and he fell over and over again. They kept putting him in the hospital, and they brought him back and forth to rehab. He didn't even spend that much time in the memory care area because they kept sending him to the hospital. It was terrible. His health declined and he had to leave. They don't do their job. They're short-staffed. They hire temp agencies to take care of them. They have incompetent staff. He was in the assisted living part, which was nice, but then he went to the memory care, and that's where he declined. The memory care section wasn't good at all. There was nothing there. The food didn't look too good. There was a time he came back from the hospital and he wasn't able to even feed himself. When I went to go visit him, he had his tray in his room against the wall. It was a hotdog with fries and nobody even fed him. They said that's not their job. He was sitting there for two days, unable to do anything without anybody telling me until I noticed when I went in there. They have the residents all go in the dining room and they sing. They don't take them anywhere. They don't do anything exciting. I was told that my uncle would have been able to go to the other section of the building and be able to see the performers, and they didn't do that. They don't move them. I go in there and people are crying. This woman is crying and she doesn't know where to go or what to do. I didn't see any of the staff ever smiling. It seemed like you're a pain to them. I went there on Christmas at 6:00 p.m. It was dark and quiet, and the aides were sitting in the dining room chatting while everybody was sent to bed. That's happened on more than one occasion when I went in at 6:00 at night and it was quiet and nobody was out.

We're really happy with this community. They're great. They have a ton of activities like bingo, puzzles, outings, they take them to Dunkin' Donuts, and to look at the Christmas lights. My mother's room is tiny, but she has everything that she needs. The staff is super responsive. She's in the actual memory care unit. They only have 18 residents, and everyone has been very welcoming and helpful. It's a locked facility, so they can't just wander out. They have two pianos, a little library, and a little outdoor patio space. The facility is great. When I walked in, I just felt immediately comfortable there.

My mother moved in. We've been very happy with it, and we have no complaints. She's in memory care, her room is clean, and it has what she needs. They have a nice patio, outside area, and TV room.
