I went to Carmel Village. It seemed very well organized, I was very happy. It seemed like it would be a good place for someone with memory care issues. The rooms looked very nice. A little small, but basically you're eating somewhere else, and you're doing your activity somewhere else. They have a daily calendar of activities for it depending on what category you're in. I didn't actually try the food, but I did go to the cafeteria area, and it looked very nice. It looked very well organized, very clean. I was very happy with that .

My husband has moved into Carmel Village Retirement Community. It's very friendly. It doesn't look big from the entrance, but it is. My husband's room is small, but it accommodates a bed, a dresser, a nightstand, and a recliner. He shares a bathroom. The food looks fair. The little dining area is OK. It's pleasant. They have activities ongoing. They have caregivers in charge of activities in the morning and in the afternoon, and then they show a movie after dinner. They have bingo, and they have guessing games. I didn't see any physical exercise being given, although they do have someone that comes in with a salon. It's for everyone, assisted living also, which is separate. I think the upkeep is excellent. Value for the money is why we chose it. It was exceptionally clean, and we felt that the staff was very friendly and very caring. The facility accommodates most of our needs. They are very conscious of keeping everything clean. I haven't seen a lot of physical activities, but I have seen a lot of mental stimulation type activities. They are ongoing during the day.

I chose Carmel Village because it seemed like a place that would be a good fit for my friend. It's a well kept community, it has a memory care unit, and the place is very clean. The people that I saw there seemed really satisfied. They had a recreational activity going on for a group from the memory care unit when we visited. The room that she has is nice. It's sort of divided, but it's just one room. It's nice for her to be able to have someone to communicate with, rather than just being in a room by herself. I think she'll be happier in that environment. The dining area looked very nice, attractive, and very clean. I only spoke with the receptionist there, the marketing director, and one other administrative person, but I found them all to be knowledgeable and cooperative. They answered the questions I had and took the time to show me the community. Some of the people in the memory care unit were engaged in a craft activity, and they seemed to be interacting and enjoying themselves.
