Pacifica Senior Living Bakersfield was good. We saw them doing activities with their patients. Considering the situation, they were trying to be very engaging with their clients. They're very friendly. We had a pretty good conversation about what might be needed. I think I would have preferred Pacifica Senior Living if I was going to do a memory care. Their lunchrooms seemed kind of small, but I had a good feeling about the facility. They have a main room. They were working on doing some other things, but they weren't done yet. All their residents were participating in a game and stuff like that. The facility was clean. It was more institutional, that's why it works better.

My wife has been in memory care at Pacifica Senior Living Bakersfield for approximately three months now. Initially, we met with the staff at Pacifica. I want to see the facility and just in general get a general idea of what it's like. After meeting with the staff, they were very competent and very open. It's a really, really nice facility and very clean. When I was there meeting with them, they were having a group deal in the memory unit with people participating. I was very impressed with all that. I've had no dissatisfaction with the staff at all. They all seem to be very responsive and they seem to care about my wife and take good care of her when I go visit. She's always dressed well, her hair's done, she seems to be very well taken care of, and she's put on a few pounds, which I couldn't get her to do here at the house. She's in a room with another lady, but the other lady seems fine and it's a nice room. There's plenty of room. So far, I'm very satisfied with them. She's only been there three months at this time, so all I can do is go by what I've seen and the interaction I've had with the staff and how my wife seems to be taken care of. They're always very responsive. With the COVID, we went through the first six weeks where I was having to meet with my wife outside because of the COVID restrictions. Thankfully, that's over because this is Bakersfield and it's so hot outside, but that's not their fault, that was Covid. I'm very satisfied with the staff at this point. I have not been there when she's having meals. All I can go by is the fact that she has put on a few pounds. She must like what they're feeding her. Otherwise, it wouldn't be going that way. My expectation is that the food is fine, but I can't actually say with the COVID restrictions and all that, I haven't been in there when they were eating. I think it's probably fine because she's put on the weight. I haven't seen what they're feeding her. They seem to have regular activities. As far as I can tell, the activities are fine. They have people that get them involved in activities and they seem to want them involved as much as possible. I think that's probably very good. She looks nicer now than she did when she was living here at home. It was terrible trying to get her to bathe. I force her to bathe every once in a while, but she didn't want to. That's the sad thing about Alzheimer's, my wife was always one of those really clean people and then with the Alzheimer's, that got to the point where she simply didn't want to bathe and she would be angry the entire time I was making her bathe. It seems to be working fine there because whenever I come to visit, she's clean, her appearance is good, and her hair is done. I think she's being well cared for in terms of hygiene.

Pacifica Bakersfield is an excellent facility! My Mom was greeted on her first day with “Welcome Home” and has felt that sentiment everyday since then. They have the most caring and involved caregivers, excellent food, wonderful activities and beautiful facilities and grounds! The have always treated my Mom as a family member and always put her needs first! You couldn’t ask for better!

My mom tells me every time I see her that they treat her really good. She eats well and they really push fluids so the residents don’t get dehydrated. My moms short term memory is zero but can still play the piano like she did years ago. Pacifica is truly amazing. I have not met a staff member that does not show compassion.

Pacifica has good programs in place to care for the residents, communicate with the families, and interface with outside health care providers. When your loved one first arrives here it is confusing and maybe frightening for both the resident and the family. Trust the Pacifica system to overcome these hurdles; everyone will feel at home in no time at all. We have been using memory care for about four (4) months now and have found the staff to be wonderful.

This facility is well liked and respected in Bakersfield. My previous husband's father is a resident there since he has dementia. Both him and his wife are residents there and have adjusted quite well. Staff is very caring and attentive.
