The Lafayette was nice. They offer full kitchens, but there were two reasons why we didn't go. Mom kind of goes back and forth between a wheelchair because she has orthopedic issues. However, getting into the kitchen was not going to be easy for her in a wheelchair because their kitchen was too small and had four walls. They had a spot to walk a dog that was nice, but it's a very busy area. The place itself is on a busy road. I met the salesperson. She was very nice and very welcoming. She seemed to be fine. The atmosphere seemed nice. They're doing construction that should be finished soon. Most of their common areas are being renovated right now. They have a common library that the staff said a lot of people go to and read, and they have newspapers there and stuff. It was nice that they had common areas on each floor so that you didn't have to go to the first-floor lobby area. They had places with tables and chairs, so people could have community without leaving the floor, so that was nice.

The Lafayette is pretty much the only one that is affordable for us and that's in our budget. They're very welcoming, attentive, not aggressive or pushy, and they made us feel very comfortable. They accommodated us on the times that we needed to meet with them and gave us a full tour and took the time with us. They did things to accommodate their residents. The residents were able to still do things to make themselves feel comfortable, like decorating their doors, their area, and their rooms. You could tell everybody was comfortable there. The few people that I saw were able to come downstairs and be in the lobby. It was still quiet and orderly. It was still very clean, and that was important for us. The cafeteria was very nice and clean. I wouldn't say it's a newer modern space, but it still is a very clean space. It's not up-to-date but it's not old as in worn like they take care of their furniture and the carpet. They are renovating right now, so that's an added plus. What was there was well taken care of, but it was just not modern.

Our tour of The Lafayette was delightful. The lady was very pleasant, very helpful, and she has called back a couple of times to check up on things. She was very thorough. I was really impressed with her. I was impressed with the facility. However, my friend wasn't impressed because she felt the carpet was dirty throughout the facility, but they said they were getting ready to replace some of the carpet. For what it was, I was impressed with it. It is around 30 some years old. We went down and ate in the dining room and the food was not that desirable. The rooms were very nice but they did not have a stove and a dishwasher. It was just a sink, a refrigerator, and a microwave, and that did it for her. She wasn't interested at that point.

I visited The Lafayette, and I was satisfied with the living condition. I was impressed with it. I was impressed with the surroundings and the rooms. The rooms were in medium size, and they were one-bedroom units. They had something going on for the residents. I most definitely recommend them to anyone.

I visited The Lafayette; they seemed nice. They were a little bit more crowded as far as getting around in a wheelchair or walker or crutches. Once you got into a room, it had open space, but getting through the main reception area was like a lot of turns and a very limited amount of space, so it would be very hard for somebody like me who has a scooter or a walker.

Everybody at Lafayette was really friendly, and the facilities were nice. We looked at one apartment, and it was a two-bedroom. That is the only one we saw, and it was quite nice. The dining setup looked good, but we didn't eat there. I believe they have a staff that is dedicated to the dining room. In other words, they are not doing ten different jobs at the place plus working in the dining room. I think it looked like a good spot. The reason we didn't want to move my mother where she is in Wisconsin is they have a program to pick up the slack if you run out of money or exhaust your savings. There is nothing like that in Kentucky.

The Lafayette was absolutely gorgeous. It was like a luxury apartment, assisted living type of thing, and it was beautiful. The dining area was exquisite. It was a seated facility, and there were servers that were specifically tailored for dining service. The staff was very friendly, accommodating, upbeat, and enthusiastic.
