The woman who gave the tour at Paramount Senior Living at Newark woman was a very nice lady, and her name was Wendy. The place looked very clean. We were not happy with the room that they were staying in, it was like a hotel room. My parents are not at that point yet where they're going to be in a room to spend the rest of their life, so it wasn't for us. Plus, the cost was way higher than what we've seen so far. So the lady was wonderful and the place looked very nice, it's just the room where they would be staying was too small, like a hotel. It didn't even have a kitchen. She showed us the 2-bedroom apartment. I also saw the dining room, I didn't have any problems with the building. It was clean, just the room was very underwhelming. For someone else, it would have been fine. They told us that they do trips and take them out in the area, and she explained all that.

I'll be moving into Paramount Senior Living at Newark at the end of the month. I chose them for their location and the cleanliness of the facility. No place is perfect, but it was clean, and the staff seemed somewhat courteous. I've seen places a lot worse. The staff seemed pretty knowledgeable. They pretty much have everything. They had activities, there was an outside area, and a barber did come in and take care of their hair. It wasn't an on-staff barber, but someone did come in. The facility is close to my kids. There's a big hospital not too far away. The rooms weren't large, but they were adequate. The outside area was well-groomed. They had some patios and places that you could go out to.

We did an in-person tour at the Paramount. That went well, but we're not going to do anything until there's a vaccine and our parents can fly up here to check things out. We met with a staff member, and she was very nice. She did a temperature check on us before coming in. We toured everything we wanted to see. We saw two potential rooms, and they were spacious and updated. There were mini kitchens, and the bathrooms were good size. One room was wheelchair accessible and one was not. The staff was lovely, willing to answer everything, thorough, inviting, welcoming, and very nice.

Paramount Senior Living at Newark was fine, but a little expensive for what you get. They did not really talk in-depth about the different activities, and the population seemed to be a lot older than my brother is, so I'm not sure if he'd be necessarily participating a lot. I saw residents out and about. The dining area visually looked fine. I can't say it's outstanding, but I didn't see any problems with it. There was nothing that stood out to me.
