Ivy Park at San Jose was a very beautiful place. It was very spacious with friendly workers. The dining area was nice and I liked the little workout room that they had there for the residents. It's a nice facility and the people there were very nice, but it's also very expensive. They told us that we were going to pay one price and then, later on, they said that there's a community fee on top of the $3300 for the room. None of that was explained to us. They just told us there was a $500 deposit plus the first month's rent. So, it kind of turned this off. Also, there was no type of financial help either whereas the other location was willing to work with my father-in-law's financial means.

I toured Ivy Park at San Jose. I was really impressed with the place. I liked that it was clean, and it offered a variety of food. There weren't any set requirements. They had options of doing whatever you would like. If you wanted to do a scheduled session of something, you had that option too. The cafeteria was open. It's open pretty early and till about seven o'clock. The central area was open, but there were no movies going on. There was a gym activity going on. I think zumba was going on, but we didn't watch it. We went up to the exercise room. The only thing I was a little disappointed in is the kitchen area in the apartment. It was very, very small. You could just put a pot, and that's about it. There was no counter space or anything. It was just a sink, the refrigerator, and the microwave. It was a little sparse. That's my only big disappointment. I know with the facility being offered that you really didn't have to cook anything for yourself, but still there wasn't a lot of room in the kitchen area. I thought it was just too small. I think we went into a two bedroom and one bedroom. It was just the same thing. I didn't eat anything, but it looked pretty appetizing. It was very upbeat. It was roomy. It didn't give a doom and gloom kind of atmosphere.

My mother-in-law moved into Ivy Park at San Jose for two months and a half now. It is close to where we live. It's very clean, and it's a good price. My mother-in-law likes it there. The food is okay. She doesn't complain. She likes to go to physical therapy, and she's doing exercises every day. They were very nice people. They have a patio in the back, so you can they can walk around the building. The church is very close, so they can go to church. They have a kitchenette, a big living room, a bigger bathroom, and a big bedroom. She has a one-bedroom apartment.
