I did a tour of Sunrise of Plainview. The staff was very good, and the place was beautiful. It just was a very small place, and a little too quiet. They were very helpful and very nice. They had a library. They had other activities, and they go on tours. It was homey, it's just a little too small for me.

Sunrise of Plainview was nice, but it was very expensive. It was more money than the other facility that we liked. The lady that we spoke with was very nice. We just didn't get that same warm feeling that we did at the other facility. The rooms were nice. Everything was nice.
The lady said they had amenities. They showed us the schedule. They have exercise programs and different things according to what the person can do and don't want to do. They all have them, but we only looked at the assisted living. They also had a library. We saw people sitting around. Everything was clean. It looked nice and seemed nice, but we got a better feeling from another location.

The staff members at Sunrise Plainview were phenomenal during our visit. They're all helpful and friendly. The place was beautiful, bright, and sunny. It looked like a very pleasant place to live. It seemed very clean and updated, and it almost reminded me of a hotel. They have a salon, too. The rooms that I saw were bright and spacious.

We visited Sunrise of Plainview. The director took us into the dining area and what they consider an activity room, which was just basically a large room. Mom wasn't ready for that because the majority of the people there were in wheelchairs. It was clean. It reminded me of a New England bed and breakfast the way it was set up. They also offered memory care and were very expensive. The director seemed very pleasant.

I only met the admissions staff at Sunrise of Plainview, and they were very nice. It was more wooded, very nice, and luxurious, but very expensive. I think they have shared rooms and 1 bedroom rooms too. They had the largest rooms and closet. They don’t take people that are ill; it’s for more high functioning people. They had music and classes, and they have a calendar of events.

I left my tour of Sunrise Plainview with a very good feeling. It is expensive but perhaps the saying is true, "you get what you pay for." The woman who led the tour, Anne, was delightful. She spend a considerable amount of time answering questions and making sure I was generally comfortable with everything. The residents seemed to be involved in activities and happy. The facility was immaculate. The only concern is that although the memory neighborhood is on the first floor, the other resident rooms/apartments I saw are on the second floor. If ever, G-d forbid an emergency evacuation was necessary, that's a lot of people to carry down the stairs. Unfortunately, this seems to be the case with most facilities I looked into. All in all, this looks like a great place.

We chose Sunrise of Plainview because of the size of the facility. So far, so good. It has been three weeks that my father is there, and it has been alright. Another factor in my consideration is they have a licensing to take him to hospice care.

Sunrise was where my father spent 9 months, and my mother spent just over a year. On the assisted living side when my dad was alive, it was good; it worked out. They did activities. They would sit and talk to other residents. A lot of the residents liked them and spoke to them.
The staff was generally OK. There were 18 residents in the Alzheimer's unit. They had a separate unit for the Alzheimer's patients. The food was very good; I happened to like it. Almost every time I went there, I could get what I wanted to eat. If I ordered something off the menu, that’s fine. If they didn’t have something on the menu, they would make me a salad. I have issues with food that I can’t eat some things so I have to be careful where I go and how much I do eat of whatever. When I had breakfast, I could have almost everything that was listed on the menu and dinners. I didn’t have that many, but I was able to eat most of them. It was tasty and good.
My mother and father were in a suite that had 2 rooms. They had a TV in their own room.
Mom’s room in the Alzheimer's unit was a 2-room piece with some privacy on both sides -- not a complete wall that goes up. They had an area that they could get dressed in privately, they shared a bathroom in that room, and it was always clean. They had a cleaning guy that went around who cleaned the rooms, vacuumed, and dusted.

My husband who had Alzheimer's was a resident of the dementia unit of this facility for almost 2 years. We moved him from another Assisted Living facility where he was one of 40 residents and did not get enough care, was left unattended and we had to hire an Aide 24/7 in order for him to get the care he needed. He was very well taken care of here. There were only 18 residents and they all seemed to get good personaL CARE.The place was always very cheerful, I was always greeted by the staff. He was kept clean and comfortable. When his condition worsened he was fed his meals and tho he hardly spoke the staff always spoke to him and encouraged him to respond. When they noticed medical problems they called his doctor and when necessary sent him to the local hospital to be evaluated. I would recommend this place highly for the level of care given.

Aside from assisted living, Sunrise of Plainview also has memory care. My daughter works for this facility and so probably it is also where I would end up. They're expensive, although I like this facility because it is closer to my children. As I went to see my daughter, I also met with some of the management people there. I also got to see the facility and to me, it was very nice. The people seemed very happy there as well.

This is the worst Sunrise in the system. They are tiny, there dementia unit is very small and the woman who runs it is very cold and uncaring. She doesn't seem to have a total understanding of the needs and the daily changes of a resident with Dementia. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS FACILITY TO ANYONE WHO NEEDS THIS KIND OF CARE.

My father and I took a tour of this facility to see if it would be a good fit for my grandma, who has Alzheimer's, and my grandpa who was a diabetic. We needed to make sure that the facility had a program for my grandmother that would allow her to interact with other Alzheimer's patients and keep her brain in use, which it did. The facility also told us that they would be able to provide a diet to help keep my grandpa's sugar levels in check. The facility was very nice and clean. The staff was friendly and caring, and very accommodating. The reason why my grandparents did not wind up here was due to the size and feel of the facility. It was very small and residents seemed to not have enough room to go about their day without being in each other's way. There were also a large amount of wheelchairs and walkers blocking walking paths, due to the lack of space. We also did not end up having them live there because the other sunrise facility we toured felt more like a home than an assisted living center.
