My mother was at Bethany Home. That's where she lost 8 pounds. We had to get her out of there. The food that all of us family members saw at different times was not good. We went there because it was quite a bit closer for us to visit her, but the therapy failed. Also with her sudden weight loss, we had to try something different. We couldn't be fine with this. They seemed to be understaffed. I don't think they weren't keeping up. However, the appearance was very nice.
My parents are retired dairy farmers, and they always have milk at meals. But at Bethany Home, it was a difficult thing to get them to do that. And here, it's the evening meal, and they give my mom a can of cola. It's like, why are you giving these people caffeine this time of day?

My husband is currently living in Bethany Home. It is by lake, so you see a lot of geese and things like that. However, there are no nice outside grounds that you can walk around on. Their rehab facility is exceptional. It is a brand new unit up on the third floor. While they supply furniture when you first move in, after that, you're supposed to get your own furniture. They do not have their own phone, but the rooms are very nice. The private rooms are very large and most of them have an outside view. The bathrooms are very big. The food department is horrible. They don't have individualized diets. So I wouldn't recommend that. Their activity program is very poor. Pretty much they have Bingo, and a few crafts, but not very many. They don't have anything for people that are blind or that are visually impaired. There's nobody reading to them. There is no interaction for any people that just sit there and can't help themselves. Bethany Home will only take them to in-town appointments; however, a person has to pay for their own long-term transportation. The nursing staff, for the most part, is very caring. They seemed to care about the residents. However, they're very short on CNAs, which is causing problem on the p.m. shift for the residents.

Bethany is fair at best. The care is very inconsistent. I wouldn't recommend the food to anyone. Seems like the employees who work there aren't happy

Uncle Art received great care during the last years of his life from the staff at Bethany. He was a very active senior until he suffered a stroke at the age of 90. At Bethany he was treated with utmost respect and was able to maintain daily contact with family and friends. It was also very important to him to be able to come to a Christian environment that allowed him to stay active in practicing his faith. I cannot thank everyone at Bethany enough!
