Everyone who works here has one thing in common: an appreciation and respect for older adults. You’ll see it in the friendly smiles, the genuine interest in stories from the past and the way our staff relates to everyone who lives here.

The activities offered at Layton Terrace match the diverse make-up of those who live here. People at Layton Terrace are as active as they want to be. Every month there is a full calendar of social and educational opportunities offered, including specialized calendars for our programs serving the physically frail and those with dementia.

In our communities, seniors do not merely reside. They thrive. That’s because ensuring their good health and helping them stay active and engaged isn’t merely part of a mission statement that hangs on a wall, it’s part of our daily routine.

Start with morning coffee and discuss the news of the day. Join the many people playing bingo, baseball dice, Thirty-One or Sheepshead. Watch a movie each Sunday evening and give Wii golf a try. Be part of the dining or lifestyle councils and offer your advice. And you’ll want to check the calendar to see what concerts, trips to local shops, sightseeing excursions or lunches are coming up. You’ll find lots of opportunities to socialize every single day.

Health & Wellness

Start each weekday with group exercise, or try Stretching to the Classics, Tai Chi or even line dancing. Build strength and endurance with Wii bowling while you play for a league trophy. Join a trip to the West Allis Farmer’s Market in the season for fresh fruit and vegetables or enjoy a stroll through a nearby park. Join the Creative Crafters, attend a presentation or volunteer to help a local cause. Some residents knit caps for the Waukesha Memorial Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and donate them quarterly. Reach out and visit Faith Children’s Academy once a month to visit the 4 and 5-year-olds. While there, residents read, color, sing and play games with the children. Layton Terrace residents have been sharing like this for at least 4 years. It’s easy to stay active and involved.

Attend weekly Lutheran or Catholic services and communion, Vespers, rosary hour or join a Bible study group. Attend services offered by other denominations that visit once a month, and share their time and talents through song and praise. There are many opportunities to remain spiritually nourished. I know a friend who lives at Layton Terrace Senior Living. It's clean, and they have nursing staff 24/7 if needed. They have card games. There's so much going on there all the time. I've been visiting regularly. The staff is very attentive. It's very well maintained. They have worship service onsite and supervised exercise classes. Whatever they're charging the people, it's worth it.

My mom will be moving into Layton Terrace next week. I had a physical tour, and it was great. I met a few people who were just walking through, and they told me what their job is and how my mom would be treated. The staff gave me a tour of a few of the apartments, and then I decided on one of them. I'm really happy with it. I only looked at the assisted living apartments. The studio apartment has a full kitchen, and it's almost 500 square feet. It was lunchtime, and they were serving the people there in the dining room, and it smelled awfully good. I didn't ask for a menu to see it, but the staff told me they had two options. They had more comfort-type food and a healthy menu. She has choices between different menus, so that sounded good to me.

Layton Terrace was in a nice area. There were restaurants, stores, and shops nearby, so that's a positive. The staff that we have met with seemed really nice. There was only one concern and it was when we asked a resident about how she liked it there. Maybe she was not the right person to ask, but the resident said that it's not home and she was just waiting to die. As far as the rooms that we saw, they were small and the larger one we saw would have been adequate. We saw their workout room and we saw residents playing some board games. My father would have been excited if they had something like woodworking, but they have nothing like that onsite. Overall, the tour was really good and the staff did a really good job.

Layton Terrace was a very good place, but I don't think they have a big enough memory care center there. The person who assisted me was very informative. They had very good physical therapy, a beauty salon, a nice dining area, and nice rooms.

My dad is here and is doing very well. It is a good place. He seems to be happy. They are pretty open with everything and are very pleasant, warm, accommodating, polite, and respectful. It has been a month, but so far, we have not had a problem. They have a gathering area and a pretty large backyard.

Layton Terrace is like a warm and friendly home. They had a whole bunch of activities for their residents, plus a beauty shop, a little grocery store, and those sorts of things. We had a meal there and enjoyed it. The staff was extremely accommodating. The facility is clean, laid out well, and not too overwhelming. It did not feel institutional at all.
