I have a friend that lives in the Forest Ridge Senior Community. She really likes it. She likes all the activities they have. She has to check in every morning and night, to let them know that she's OK. She goes down for meals, and she said the food is really good. She said they have bingo and singalongs. Everything looked really nice when I visited her.

I toured Forest Ridge Senior Community. I thought it looked very nice, and the apartments were very nice. I thought it was very comfortable, and I looked at it first because it was very convenient to where I live. I thought the price seemed good, and if it were me, Id probably be going to Forest Ridge. It was new, the rooms were nice and spacious, and wasnt crowded, but I really liked the way the kitchen was set-up because it was compact in a little corner, and it would work very well with somebody using a walker or wheelchair. I looked at the two-bedroom because it was only $30 difference between the 1st bedroom and the 2nd bedroom. That gave you the extra room especially if you need a wheelchair. It looked like the meals were good, and the dining place looked nice.

I liked Forest Ridge the best among all the senior places we've visited. They're independent living, but they will bring the assisted living right to your door if and when you need it, so you won't have to move to a different place. I was very impressed and liked it very much. It's very homey and comfortable, and I feel like I could feel at home. The staff members that we dealt with were excellent, helpful, and friendly. The location was fine; it's a little bit out of town and not in the city. Their pricing was reasonable for what they offered.

My mom was a resident there for about 8 months. It began with a bad experience with one of their representatives when I first began to question if this was the right place for my mom in the long run which should have kept out of family business. I tell you why. My mom had Parkinson's, but it wasn't severe yet, but spent some time in and out of the hospital when she was home. Now she was still able to walk with a walker, go to the bathroom on her own, but required help with getting dressed, having her food cooked for her, washing her clothes and reminders to take her medicine. So I thought, this place would be alright in the short-term but I didn't think this was good for her in the long term. The woman whom I spoke with, didn't think much of it, she was certain that Forest Ridge could meet my mother's needs, if she needed more care (added fees for additional services) and brag to me there was a resident who was there for years required more help and her services ranged over 3,000 dollars a month. The base rent is cheap, but when you add things like washing clothes, assistance with medicine, fees for when they have to bring the food to the resident, it tends to add up. Keep in mind, they do not assist residents going to the bathroom. My biggest fear was my mom's medical condition. I remember my grandfather when he had Parkinson's. I eventually agreed to her staying there. But 8 months later, my mom's medical conditional got very bad. She got stuck on the toilet, the handy man who was there informed me (didn't help her) that my mom had been spending a lot of time in the bathroom. As I walked in the bathroom, I noticed my mom was stuck, she couldn't get up. Something the handy man could have found out before I got there and so my family could be informed of the situation sooner. My mom ended up going to the hospital after she fell, she went to rehab. My mom didn't want to go to a nursing home, her fear of this prompted her to fight to go back to forest ridge. The nursing home where she was rehabbing fought this, and they were right, my mom was in no condition to remain at forest ridge because for one, she could no longer go to the bathroom on her own, she was having problems getting in and out of the chair by herself. I ended up staying there for a week because they couldn't assist her to the bathroom. Eventually she fell again when I was at work. This time she wasn't coming back, she ended up in another assistant living place that did more till she passed away. So when considering a place like this, its important to make sure your love ones needs. Have a back-up plan, because you never know what could happen in the future. I believe Forest Ridge is a good place for those who can live independently, or for those who require little assistance. I met some great residents, nurse, and some caretakers there who were great with my mom and me while I visited there! :)

Forest Ridge Senior Community had assisted living so it got everything you needed. You also pay a little more because of it. You could eat there all the time but you had to let them know what you wanted to order ahead of time. Food was not good because it was reheated from somewhere else. Nonetheless, I was happy there.

Forest Ridge Retirement Community is a really beautiful, excellent place for a senior to spend their later years. Their on-site ammenities were numerous (a beauty parlor, gorgeous commons area with fire place, a game room with a pool table), and the individual apartments were lovely. They did not have that "nursing home" feel, and were rather reminiscent of any one-bedroom apartment. The staff was extremely courteous and adept at what they did, and there were always staff members at the front desk who were vigilant about keeping track of who came and went into the community. I believe that my great-grandmother was very safe and happy here, and it was an excellent place for her to live out her final days. The environment was one where more active seniors could consistently find others to socialize with, while those who were more shy or reserved could only occasionally attend building-wide events without feeling like an outsider. An excellent facility indeed.
