My mom has been in the Elder Care Cottages of Waterford. The reason why I picked this place was, it's smaller, it's privately owned, they have memory care where she's been in, and it's an all woman unit. Since it's a smaller community, I think she gets a little more TLC. It's a transition at first, but she's very happy now. The staff has been amazing with her. She can have therapy, and it's close to where I live. I haven't been in her room because of COVID, but I can visit her in a separate area since she has a roommate. I just walked past her room, and it looks fine to me. I know they have private rooms too, but I chose a semi-private because she doesn't like to be alone. It's very clean and it's a newer building. The dining area is like a common area where they all eat together, which is nice. The food is prepared by the chef, and she has not complained about it, but again, Mom has Alzheimer's, so it's hard to even really know. The staff has been super wonderful and super nice. I haven't had any issues with them. They call me if there's any updates. Even the therapy department staff calls me right away with anything. Every time I'm there, the general staff has been really sweet and nice. They all love my mom, and they all know who she is. They have a fireplace, a big TV, and recliners so they can watch TV in comfort. I've seen them playing bingo, doing exercise classes, arts, and all different kinds of things.
