We went to gather some information and view the facilities at Wellington Place at Rib Mountain. We were very impressed with it. It was the assisted living that we toured. Overall, it was very nice. The staff was very nice too. Everything was clean, and it seemed to be very organized. We only saw one room, and it was very comfortable and satisfactory. They have ample room for the furniture you want to bring. They have a beauty shop there. They have a nice little dining room. Each room has a little refrigerator and microwave. They have other activities, but we didn't go through the whole list. They also have a library. The one lady staff that we had was very, very nice.

My mom has moved into Wellington Place of Rib Mountain. It just seems to be the nicest place that I could take my mom because she is not to the point where she needs a nursing home per say. She has memory issues, but she needs help with eating. She's physically capable of taking a bath and walking. She doesn't use any medication or anything like that. It was mainly her memory, her hiding things, her not eating anymore unless she's told to, and those kinds of things. It's just the best fit.
Her room has a little living room, a little bedroom, and a little kitchenette; if she wants to have something in her apartment, she can. The bathroom is beautiful. She can take a bath. There's a stool in there, and it's got the showerhead where you can sit down or stand up. The facility itself is kind of out in the country, so it's just a beautiful facility.
I like how clean it was, and the environment was very welcoming. The CNAs were very, very helpful. The director was very, very informative to me and very helpful. Even up to now when I called her to see how my mom is doing (because they don't want me to come for the first week or so.Otherwise, they're afraid she won't acclimate to the new environment). She was always polite and always informative. They have good food. It's just a beautiful facility. I would move there if I could retire. It's clean and neat. Compared to the other places I looked at, this was like top of the line.

My mom is in Wellington Place. The communication was very well, they communicated with me, worked with me, and even now that she's there there is communication. They are very good. She seemed to really, really like the food. One day, I had to drop a few things off and they opened the door just to grab them out of my hands, and it smelled so good in there, so I would say their food has to be pretty good.
Her room is very roomy. It's a little dated as far as carpeting, but very clean. Windows are clean and everything looks clean. It's very nice. Because of COVID, they are on lockdown. They do activities, but right now I don't know how they're handling it all. They handle all the issues there though. I've only been in contact with Patty and Barb, the director, and they are a five definitely. The facility is so neat.

My wife is in Wellington Place. It is one of the most reasonably priced places for dementia patients. They give good care. It is remotely located on the edge of the city, right below Rib Mountain. So in the winter, you can watch people ski down the ski trails. The staff is very kind and considerate. There is quite a turnover on the staff, so I am surmising that the weighing scale is not too high, but I have no problem with any of the staff. They are all very accommodating. The apartments or rooms are above average for a dementia care facility. There is a sitting room and separate bathroom. Between the sleeping and the sitting area, there is a partial wall. Then there is a small kitchenette with a refrigerator and sink. There is no cooking facility because obviously that will not be safe. There is a pull string for care. If you need any care, pull the string, and a buzzer goes off and help comes in. They are very religious about their medication being on time. They help with the bathing and dressing. Whatever the need of the patient, they meet that. They don't have a care schedule. Everyone has whatever treatment they require, up to the point that exceeds their capability.
They cater mostly to people with memory problems. So, for active/assisted living persons, they will become very depressed, because when you are living with a dementia person, it is hard to keep a conversation going. I go in there to be with my wife because we have never separated. I am only there a short time because I can't handle it.
My children think it will be the best, also from the standpoint of our finances. We can finance that place much longer than we can if we move her to a more expensive place.

Wellington Place is a 28-bed facility. It's really nice and homey. The facility is very clean. Mom loves the food. They don’t have a lot of activities, but I know on Friday they have happy hour which is a snack buffet. They also play bingo and they have a hairdresser comes in. My mom lost her glasses and they were just super at finding them and getting it back to her. Everybody is so friendly there. Every time I'm there somebody gives me a little update of what's going on. I already have recommended this facility.

Wellington Place is located in a beautiful part of Wausau--right across from Rib Mountain, which gives some gorgeous views, especially in the Fall. My Grandpa's room is facing Rib Mountain, and he is very appreciative of the nature he is able to see right from his living area, especially because he is not very mobile. I chose this facility from a number of different options because it had staff who were very friendly and didn't ever make you feel like you were bothering them for doing their job. In addition, there are a number of amenities at the facility that make it feel more like home. There is a library with a number of different books to read, there is a beautiful sitting area off the main entrance that even has a piano to play. Overall the facilities are very open and bright, which helps a lot with the homey feel. The food here is pretty good; not the best and not the worst. It seems like they serve a lot of "old fashioned" options, which works well for my Grandpa. I appreciated the aspects of community that are present here; my Grandpa has made a lot of friends already, and that's such a blessing because I don't have to worry about him being lonely. Overall, this facility is bright and cheery, with a friendly staff and lots of different options for residents to participate in.
