My parents both stayed at Ascension Living Alexian Village. My dad was gonna move out with my mom too, but for some reason they have a 60-day notice, which I thought is so silly, because my parents haven't been apart. Maybe only two weeks when my dad was in the hospital a couple of years ago, but now they want them to be apart just because they don't want to break the contract. It's horrible. They need to improve on their communication. The apartments are beautiful but, to me, it seems as if they're just taking people's money and just waiting for them to die. There are some good employees, and then there are some, like the sales marketing, they're just trying to get people in. Even when talking to some of the staff they're saying it was different after they were picked up by Ascension. The food is great, my parents loved the food. I think the structure is very nice, like you can go from one side of the building to the other without having to go outside. The apartments are very nice and spacious. I can't give them a five on anything. I'm just disappointed in them. I sent a letter hoping that they would reconsider their decision about not letting my dad off the contract. I said, "You have an amazing staff, but there are some people that are there for the wrong reason." It's like, "Get the money, get them in, now that they're in we don't care about them, we don't have to see and talk to them."

I toured. It was a nice place and I would consider it for my dad. It had a new dining area, there was also a church inside of the building, they have a nice sitting area outside for the residents, and what I saw I liked. The staff was fine, they took me out and showed me a room that was available, a 1-bedroom, and the person from what I recall I don't have any complaints at all.

It was OK. It's a big campus. The apartments were nice. The staff members were friendly and warm. They have big rooms or something similar to a one-bedroom apartment. They also have an exercise room and a community room. They have trips two times a week to different places. They also have grocery shopping, bingo, and church.

Mother was originally placed in the rehab center. It’s a large facility. The rehab center is separate from the assisted living staff and the various other cares. The support staff was very courteous and attentive to her needs even though she was very difficult to deal with while she was there. The only thing that I have found is that it has been difficulty getting a hold of her. My mother is not able to answer the phone on her own, so it’s always having to contact the staff member and then having the staff member complete the call for her. We have some difficulty in coordinating. The rooms were completely adequate in size and furnished.
